Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks professional, innovative, and detailed students for our Purchasing Intern position. If you are a current college student looking for an opportunity to gain real-world experience while working on various data entry and purchasing projects, this position may be perfect for you! Candidates should be available full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year.

As aPurchasing Intern,a typical daymight include the following:

  • Assist the purchasing team with the procurement of components, materials, supplies and equipment for factory operation, consistent with quality and delivery expectations.

  • Assist in the management of open purchase orders, including regular professional communication with SEL's suppliers.

  • Provide support for the assurance of on time delivery of procured material by assisting in the management of purchase order confirmations, expedites and past due purchase orders.

  • Assist the purchasing team with department objectives and projects.

  • Provide support for the issue and review of quotes and bids.

  • Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

  • Understand. Create. Simplify.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, MIS, Economics, Finance, or a related field

  • Understanding of electronics technology, manufacturing methods, and total quality processes

  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL

Pay Range Data
