Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) is comprised of eight departments: Addictions & Rehabilitation Studies (DARS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLSC), Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSDI), Health Services and Information Management (HSIM), Occupational Therapy (OCCT), Physical Therapy (PTHE), Physician Assistant Studies (PADP) and Nutrition Science (NUTR). The CAHS offers six (6) undergraduate (BS) degrees, seven (7) Masters (MS) degrees, and four (4) doctoral degrees (DPT, AuD, and two (2) PhD's). In addition to offering these degree programs with various tracks, the HSIM Department administers the Health Care Management certificate program for the College of Business MBA and MPA degrees and administers a certificate in Health Informatics. The CSDI Department operates the Speech and Hearing Clinic for patients; provides hearing screening tests for all prospective Education majors; and evaluates and provides therapy for students with hearing or speech difficulties in conjunction with Disability Support Services in the Division of Student Life. The Nutrition Science offers dietetic programs. Enrollment exceeds 1050 students. More than 1,000 ECU undergraduate students are declared Pre-Allied Health students and are advised by the Pre-Allied Health Advisors at the Advising Center. Faculty members prepare students for allied health careers in undergraduate and graduate degree programs through classroom, distance education, laboratory instruction, and off-site clinical rotations. Two additional fee-for-service clinics are offered: physical therapy; substance abuse and employment readiness counseling.
Job Duties
The College of Allied Health Sciences is seeking applicants for part-time, fixed-term faculty (.74 FTE or less) for one or more semesters during the upcoming academic year at the title(s) of Teaching Instructor, Senior Teaching Instructor, Master Teaching Instructor, Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, Teaching Professor, Research Instructor, Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, Research Professor, Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor to teach and/or conduct and manage research activities within the Allied Health disciplines for the following specialties: Physical Therapy; Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies; Communication Sciences and Disorders; Health Services and Information Management; Physician Assistant Studies; Clinical Laboratory Science; Nutrition Science and Occupational Therapy.
Minimum Education/Experience
Acceptable qualifications include master's degree in the teaching discipline or related field for undergraduate courses or research with undergraduate programs; terminal degree in the teaching discipline or related field for graduate courses or research with graduate programs; or alternate professional competencies and achievements such as related graduate education, related professional certifications, related work experience, honors and awards. All education must be documented from an appropriately accredited institution or certified as equivalent to required accredited education.
