PART - TIME POLICE OFFICER
CITY OF BARTLETT
POLICE DEPARTMENT

PART- TIME
29.29 per hour
Part-Time Positions are not eligible for full benefits. Uniforms, Equipment, & Social Security Contributions are provided.
Job Functions:
  • Assisting with calls for service involving crime activity and requests for assistance.
  • Providing or administering emergency medical aid when necessary.
  • Safeguarding sensitive and confidential information concerning individuals and investigations.
  • Assisting in maintaining and restoring order public gatherings or events.
  • Preparing reports on accidents, incidents, and public complaints.
  • Assisting with the protection and preservation of crime scenes.
  • Assisting members of the public by providing information, guidance, and direction.
  • Escorting authorized personnel during the transport of money or other valuables.
  • Maintaining awareness of workplace safety guidelines and standards and applying them in the performance of daily duties.
  • Performing other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Any individual newly employed or utilized as a part -time, temporary, reserve, or auxiliary law enforcement officer, or as a special deputy wo is not currently employed as a full-time law enforcement officer, or who has a break of less than three (3) years as a full-time or part-time/temporary/reserve/auxiliary law enforcement officer or special deputy-must complete one hundred twenty-eight (128) hours of training specific to the duties assigned by the employing agency.
  • This training shall be accomplished during the first calendar year of employment.
  • Upon completing of the initial training requirement, all part-time, temporary, reserve, and auxiliary law enforcement officers and special deputies are required to completed forty (40) hours of in-service training during each subsequent calendar year.

Area, of education, training and experience:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must not have been convicted of, pleaded guilty to, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony or any violation of any federal or state laws relating to force, violence, theft, dishonest, gambling, liquor, or controlled substances.
  • Applicants must not have been discharged from any branch of the United States Armed Forces under other than honorable conditions.
  • Must have fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
  • Must possess good moral character.
  • Must be free of any apparent mental disorder, as determined by a City-administered psychological following a conditional offer of employment, at the City's expense.
  • Must successfully complete the oral interview process.

Special Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass a physical agility test.
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a driver's license check.
  • Must successfully complete a psychological examination.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, including a drug screen.
  • Residency within the City of Bartlett is preferred but not required.
  • Non-smoker preferred.
