Hours of Work: Monday-Thursday: Hours vary (27-hour weekly maximum)
Description
Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized clerical and technical work within the Planning & Zoning Division. Is responsible for receiving and processing business tax and related applications, including the collection of business taxes and related fees. Reports to Planning and Zoning Manager.
Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
  • Graduation from High school, including or supplemented by courses in typing and business practices.
  • One (1) year of secretarial or clerical experience.

Essential Functions
  • Provides assistance to the public in relation to the receipt and processing of local business tax applications, including the preparation of invoices and the collection of business taxes and related fees.
  • Reviews business tax and related applications for compliance with Town and State requirements, coordinating with other Town departments as needed.
  • Schedules and monitors inspections for new businesses.
  • Provides customer service in person, by phone or other means on business tax and related matters.
  • Maintains files and records regarding business tax receipts and related applications.
