Job Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Retirement and Pension Administrator to coordinate and oversee daily activities involving the organization's retirement and pension plans within the Human Resources division. This role is responsible for providing analytical, administrative, and supervisory support in the calculation, processing, reporting, and maintenance of pension benefits programs while ensuring compliance with plan provisions and applicable federal and state regulations.

The Retirement and Pension Administrator supervises pension staff, performs complex retirement benefit calculations, coordinates audits and actuarial valuations, and ensures accurate financial reporting and documentation. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in pension administration, accounting, finance, or employee benefits administration
  • Experience performing retirement benefit calculations and preparing retirement packages
  • Experience maintaining pension databases, retiree master files, and pension general ledger records
  • Experience coordinating with auditors, actuaries, and external consultants for annual audits and actuarial valuations
  • Experience preparing financial and regulatory reports related to pension plans
  • Experience conducting monthly reconciliations including bank statements, retiree master files, and pension calculation worksheets
  • Experience interpreting and applying pension plan documents, federal regulations, and applicable laws
  • Experience supervising or coordinating staff and ensuring adherence to procedures and deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, pension plan practices, and financial reporting
  • Ability to interpret complex retirement plan documents and financial reports
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and retiree information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Experience Preferences

  • Experience working directly with defined benefit pension plans
  • Experience supporting GASB reporting and actuarial valuation processes (GASB No. 25, 27, 74, 75)
  • CPA certification
  • Experience conducting employee retirement education sessions or benefits briefings
  • Experience supporting open enrollment and insurance benefit program administration

Education Requirements
