Payroll Manager (Part-Time)
Position Overview

401k with 4% Employer MatchSummary of PositionThe Payroll Manager plays a vital role in supporting the mission and vision of Christ Church by ensuring that every staff member is compensated accurately, timely, and with care. By stewarding payroll processes with excellence, accuracy and integrity, this role helps create a stable foundation that empowers pastors, ministry teams, and support staff to fully focus on serving the congregation and community. Their work strengthens the churchโ€™s ability to operate smoothly, care well for its employees, and advance its mission of helping individuals become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
ย Essential Functions
  1. Responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner incorporating compensation and benefit changes, PTO, new hires, terminations, and time card management for hourly and casual employees.
  2. Responsible for the Benefits Administration and related communications with carriers and employees and employment verification letters. Responsible for Annual Open Enrollment Benefits logistics and updating new year benefit changes into Paycom.
  3. Process annual compensation changes, housing, and COLA increases for staff as well as prepare the annual Compensation surveys.
  4. Complete annual reporting for ACA, TASC and Empower compliance and BCBS Regulatory Data Collection and the year-end W-2 distribution to employees.
  5. Oversee the Accounting Assistant which will provide support for the bi-weekly, monthly or annual reporting and accounts payable payroll processing, the Annual Open Enrollment for Benefits and specially requested reports for audit or budgeting purposes or by HR.
Other Key Responsibilities
  • Primarily responsible for the payroll system integrity, compliance and utilization.
  • Responsible for all payroll functions to ensure the bi-weekly payroll is processed accurately and without errors.
  • Responsible for the ACA Annual Reporting Requirements (1095-C, 1095-B)
  • Work with the payroll provider to ensure all W-2s and other required forms are distributed timely to employees.
  • Oversees preparation of various bi-weekly and month end reports as requested by HR.
  • Oversees preparation all monthly HR related bills for payment.
  • Process checks for wage garnishments/child support.
  • Responsible for the process of annual compensation surveys.
  • Responsible for Short Term Disability/Long Term Disability and FMLA administration.
  • Oversees preparation of reports as requested for the annual external and workman's compensation audits, budget or other reports as requested.
  • Process annual retro, housing and compensation adjustments to be included in payroll.
  • Responsible for administration of all benefits and open enrollment procedures.
  • Enroll eligible employees during new Benefits enrollment at hire and annual open Benefit enrollments for all employees.
  • Provide employees support for all payroll and benefits matters.
  • Maintain & Process Cobra events upon termination-process continuation letters, reactivating benefits upon acceptance, track incoming payments
  • Manage all reporting to ensure the accuracy of 401K, ACA, FSA, HSA Benefits, etc.
  • Participate in Christ Church staff life by attending all-staff meetings, church sponsored events, worship, training events and contributing to a culture of collaboration and encouragement.
  • Support church-wide initiatives and special events โ€“ assist with Christmas, Easter, Motherโ€™s Day services, outreach and mission events by serving in flexible roles beyond primary ministry responsibilities.
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development through training, reading, coaching or mentoring, in order to grow as a leader and servant of Christ.
  • Collaborate across ministries to ensure alignment, share resources, and strengthen unity on our staff teams.

  • Maintain a posture of flexibility by assisting with projects or assignments outside the immediate scope of the role when needed.

  • Participate on the HRIS Payroll system replacement project, ensuring the new payroll system meets Christ Churchโ€™s payroll requirements and ensuring a seamless migration to the new system.
  • Program/Event Coordination and Logistical Supportย 
    This function encompasses the comprehensive planning and execution of all departmental and organizational events, ensuring they run smoothly and align with the broader institution's goals. Key activities involve managing eventย logistics, coordinating necessary resources, and ensuring seamless collaboration across different departments.ย 
  • Information and Records Managementย 
    This vital function involvesย maintainingย accurate, organized, and accessible data systems. The assistantย is responsible forย inputting, updating, and managing organizational records and filesโ€”such as volunteer information, attendance data, and contact listsโ€”to ensure data integrity and compliance with institutional procedures.ย 
  • Communication and Scheduling Managementย 
    This function focuses onย facilitatingย effective information flow and organizational efficiency. It includes managing the official calendars to prevent scheduling conflicts, prioritizing appointments, handling all inbound and outbound correspondence, and acting as the primary liaison on behalf of their supervisor or director.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years working in a Human Resources or Payroll environment, including working on various Payroll Systems. This position for Payroll and Benefits can be in any Industry but must have working experience in previous jobs to support the knowledge for Benefits Administration and Payroll processing.
