GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
This position reports to the Patient Access Service Director, through the assigned immediate Patient Access Supervisor. This position is responsible for the support functions necessary to accomplishing the objective of the Welcome Center and Patient Access Service department. These include, but are not limited to functions under the categories of excellent customer service which include; warmly greeting patient family and friends at the Welcome Center; managing assigned account, patient access or referral WQ's; patient scheduling & check-in, registration,
verification of insurance benefits, documentation of actions taken to process patient access task; correctly direct guest to the department or area they wish to visit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Adheres and complies with customer service standards and dress code as set forth by the hospital and the department.
Experienced patient service personnel to greet patients and/or visitors that come into the hospital with a warm welcome, assisting patients and/or visitors to the departments within the hospital and keeping wheelchairs accessible to patients and/or visitors.
Process Lobby Guard screening as assigned.
Use the Hospital Patient Census directory via EPIC Systems to look up and provide patients room and bed information for patient visitors.

Process screening questionnaires as directed by infection control
Support and maintain patient access Workqueues as assigned.
Process point of service collections and some appointment check-ins by department as assigned.
Validate and verify insurance benefits via web sites as assigned
Submit prior authorization request via systems as assigned
Assign MyChart access and perform daily MyChart proxy account audits as assigned.
Answering any questions and explain policies clearly.
Answers the department telephone immediately or within three rings utilizing courtesy and patience.
Listens to customer needs and takes appropriate action as indicated.
Gather patient demographic and financial information in a kind and courteous manner as directed.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
