Part time operations jobs involve supporting the day-to-day functions that help an organization run smoothly, but on a reduced, part-time schedule. These roles can include tasks such as inventory management, data entry, scheduling, customer service, and assisting with logistics or process improvements. Part time operations positions are common in industries like retail, logistics, hospitality, and healthcare. They offer flexibility for students, parents, or anyone needing a non-traditional work schedule. While responsibilities vary by company, these roles are essential to maintaining organizational efficiency.

Regular communication, both in-person and via digital tools, is essential to keep everyone aligned on daily objectives. This collaborative environment allows you to develop a broad understanding of the organization's processes and build valuable relationships across departments.

Farmgirl Flowers

Job description

Location: Gig Harbor, WA (In-person only, no remote work)
Compensation: $25/hour, matching 401(k), paid vacation, and more
Role Type: Part-time, non-exempt
Reports to: Operations Manager

About the Role

This role is for someone who genuinely enjoys finishing things — and winning — with a little right-fighting along the way for good measure!

Farmgirl Flowers is looking for a highly organized Operations Assistant to help wrangle transportation and procurement details, especially transportation claims and assistance. If the idea of tracking something down, following up (again and again and again), and finally getting it resolved gives you a deep sense of satisfaction, please keep reading.

It may be surprising but transportation companies don’t exactly roll out the red carpet when it comes to refunds. Claims are slow, messy, and require a tremendous amount of diligence mixed with patience, persistence, and a willingness to stay on it much longer than feels reasonable. We’re looking for someone who approaches that challenge like a dog with a bone — polite, professional, but absolutely not letting go.

This role matters. The work is real, and while the wins may not be flashy, they’re deeply satisfying — helping the business run better, supporting the team, and making a meaningful difference every single day.

While this role is part-time to start, there is potential for it to evolve into a full-time position for the right person as the business grows and needs expand.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing
  • Submitting MANY transportation claims accurately and on time (yes, there are a lot of them!).

  • Tracking every claim carefully — logging dates, amounts, paperwork, and responses — because details matter here.

  • Following up with carriers until claims are fully resolved and refunds are secured (sometimes this means long calls and repeat follow-ups and days where you may feel like you’re hitting a wall).

  • Staying polite, professional, and persistent —we’re looking for the kind of person who doesn’t let things quietly disappear.

  • Making sure boxes, tape, and all the unglamorous-but-critical stuff get where they need to go — on time and in the right quantities.

  • Tracking inventory and reorder needs so no one ever has to ask, “Wait… are we out?”

  • Ordering supplies, tracking deliveries, and following up until everything arrives safely.

  • Keeping spreadsheets, trackers, and records clean, organized, and up to date.

  • Flagging issues early, spotting patterns, and helping fix problems before they become bigger ones - because they always do.

  • Supporting the operations team however needed to keep things running smoothly. That may mean helping to process flowers, scrub buckets, clean up a design space, or whatever else is needed - with a positive attitude!

You’ll Probably Love This Role If You…
  • Are extremely organized and get real joy from tidy systems and clean spreadsheets.

  • Have a “don’t drop the ball” mentality and take pride in strong follow-through.

  • Are patient, persistent, and a little (or lot!) stubborn in the very best way.

  • Don’t mind repetitive work if it means things get done right.

  • Can stay calm and professional on frustrating phone calls.

  • Like being the person who quietly makes everything work behind the scenes.

  • Feel very satisfied when something is fully finished and checked off.

This Role Might Not Be for You If…
  • You hate details or lose interest before things are fully resolved.

  • You avoid uncomfortable conversations or give up easily.

  • You’re looking for flashy work or instant wins.

  • You prefer problems to magically fix themselves.
