Are you a qualified PCV Bus Driver looking for a role that offers greater flexibility around your lifestyle, family commitments, studies, retirement plans, or other employment?

At Arriva, we're exploring how we can create more flexible working opportunities for qualified drivers at our North East depots. As part of this initiative, we're inviting applications from experienced PCV drivers who would be interested in part-time work.

This is a campaign designed to help us understand the demand for part-time driving opportunities and the working patterns that drivers are looking for. By applying, you'll help shape how future part-time opportunities could be developed within our operation.

Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week, weekend work, evenings or daytime reduced hours, we'd love to hear from you.

As an Arriva Bus Driver, you'll be at the heart of your local community, helping people get to work, education, appointments, and social activities safely and reliably.

You'll become a familiar face to our customers, delivering excellent customer service while making a genuine difference every day. No two journeys are the same, but every journey matters.

What You'll Be Asked During Your Application

To help us assess potential part-time opportunities, we'll ask you to tell us:

  • How many hours per week you could reliably work
  • Two example weekly shift patterns that you would be able to commit to on an ongoing basis

Each example should total the number of weekly hours you've requested.

This information will help us understand the types of part time working arrangements that may be possible within our operation.

Pay Rates

Qualified Drivers with at least 18 months bus driving experience within the last 5 years

  • Weekdays: 15.54 per hour
  • Weekends: 15.84 per hour

  • Free bus travel for you and eligible family members living in the same household
  • Arriva Workplace Pension Scheme
  • Ongoing CPC training and development opportunities
  • Career progression across the Arriva network

  • Overtime opportunities where available
  • A supportive, inclusive workplace culture focused on customers and colleagues

By registering your interest, you'll be among the first considered as we evaluate future part-time opportunities and flexible driving arrangements at our Darlington depot.

If you're a qualified PCV driver looking for a rewarding role that works around your life while keeping your community moving, we'd love to hear from you.
