Job description

Description Do Great Things. Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunct instructor of Notary Public in the Business and Entrepreneurship Department. This is a part-time adjunct position to teach available Notary and eNotary courses offered face-to-face at our Durham or Orange County campuses or at third-party locations.

Face-to-face classes may be offered on weekdays or Saturdays. All online classes are synchronous. The ideal candidate must be reliable, punctual, and organized.

Additional requirements may apply once the applicant's information is provided to the NC Secretary of State's office. Examples of Duties Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course syllabus and NC Secretary of State. Maintain accurate attendance and grade rosters for each course taught.

Create an effective and motivated learning environment. Submit required reports to school and NC Secretary of State. Maintain a high level of professionalism as a representative of the college.

Ensure the security and confidentiality of student information and student records in accordance with federal privacy laws. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) Ability to work well without close supervision Minimum Qualifications Currently certified as a North Carolina Notary Public. Currently certified as a North Carolina Notary Public instructor.

Have at least one year of active experience as a Notary Public instructor. Must be able to show a copy of North Carolina Notary Public Instructor certification. Experience teaching online Notary classes is preferred but not mandatory.

Supplemental Information Must posses a current Notary Public guidebook. Must teach from the curriculum that is provided by the NC Secretary of State's office. Ability to effectively convey factual information and detailed explanations of program to industry, community, staff, and students.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds at times. Good hand /eye dexterity Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time Normal Working Hours: This is a part-time adjunct position; hours/days vary and may include weekend or evening hours. Specific work hours are to be determined by the scheduled class hours and by consultation with the supervisor.
