The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide care for a migrant farmworker clinic program in Postville, IA!


About the Migrant Farmworker Program:

  • Farmworkers perform difficult labor and are in the fields from early morning until late evening, sometimes seven days a week. Such a schedule does not facilitate access to health care services. There are also language barriers and transportation issues.
  • Health care clinics are scheduled in locations where farmworkers are working and living, during the hours when workers are available for services. In these locations, workers receive vital exams such as blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and blood profiling to check for anemia, cholesterol, and diabetes. All patients are able to have a complete physical exam.

Role Details:

  • Hours: 6-10 hours/month once a month with potential to increase; Late afternoon or evening clinic time during the week;
  • EHR: Ochin Epic

Duties:

  • Travel to farmworker job sites and provide primary care services via a mobile clinic.
  • Perform primary care including conduct health histories and physicals, diagnose, determine course of action, order labs and tests, interpret results within scope of practice.
  • Primarily adult patient population.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly desired.
