Job Description
We are seeking a responsible, vigilant, and energetic Lifeguard to join our team for the Summer Migrant Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants at the swimming facility, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and promoting water safety awareness. This is a seasonal position running from Jun 15, 2026 to Jul 23, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise all pool activities and prevent accidents by enforcing facility rules and regulations.
  • Monitor participants and be prepared to respond immediately to emergencies, using trained lifeguarding and first-aid skills.
  • Administer first aid and CPR as needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and order of the pool area, including pool deck, lifeguard chairs, and equipment.
  • Complete daily records and reports, including incident reports and hourly swimmer counts.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with program participants, staff, and parents.

Qualifications
  • Age: Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Certification: Current certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED from a recognized organization (e.g., American Red Cross). Proof of certification must be provided upon application.
  • Experience: Previous lifeguarding experience is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, strong swimmer, highly attentive, reliable, and punctual.
  • Location: Willingness to work at our summer program facility located at Kankakee High School.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish.
