RN - Psychiatric Nurse A-Shift PT 0.6

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and expert psychiatric nursing care. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' mental health and well-being while working a 0.6 FTE A-shift schedule.

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process with clinical expertise tailored to psychiatric practice. Adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics and hospital policies ensures safe, high-quality care.

  • Implement patient safety protocols including infection prevention, safe handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
  • Manage central lines and prevent surgical site infections following established guidelines.
  • Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide education to patients and families to support recovery and health outcomes.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and inform the healthcare team.
  • Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to support clinical decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and team members to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to improve their healthcare experience.
  • Apply critical thinking and pursue continuing education to advance nursing skills.

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

  • Current RN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
  • Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
