POSITION OVERVIEW
FAF Inc. is seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance amp; Operations (D365 F amp;O) Consultant to provide specialized functional and technical expertise in support of our ERP environment.
This is an independent contractor/consulting engagement and is not a regular full-time or part-time employee position. The consultant will provide specialized services related to D365 F amp;O optimization, troubleshooting, process improvement, automation, reporting, system enhancements, and related ERP initiatives.
The ideal consultant will have extensive hands-on experience with D365 Finance amp; Operations, particularly Supply Chain Management, and the ability to translate business requirements into practical, scalable system solutions. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, reporting, document automation, and ERP process optimization is highly valued.
This position will involve working collaboratively with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Warehouse, and IT stakeholders to identify opportunities, resolve system challenges, improve business processes, and implement sustainable solutions.
SCOPE OF SERVICES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
D365 Finance amp; Operations Consulting amp; Support
  • Provide specialized functional and technical consulting services related to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance amp; Operations.
  • Assess, troubleshoot, and resolve D365 F amp;O system issues and identify root causes.
  • Provide recommendations for system configuration, optimization, and process improvements.
  • Support configuration changes, enhancements, testing, documentation, and deployment activities.
  • Evaluate existing D365 functionality and recommend solutions that align with business requirements and ERP best practices.
  • Provide expertise related to D365 Supply Chain Management, including Inventory, Procurement, Warehouse Operations, Product Information Management, Costing, and related financial processes.
  • Assist with system upgrades, new functionality, implementations, integrations, and enhancement projects as needed.
Process Improvement amp; Automation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes, improve data accuracy, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Design and implement automation solutions.
  • Develop and enhance workflow and automation solutions supporting Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and other business functions.
  • Support electronic document generation and workflow automation using technologies such as Docentric.
  • Recommend opportunities to leverage D365 functionality and related technologies to improve business processes.
Reporting, Data amp; Business Intelligence
  • Develop and enhance operational and financial reporting solutions.
  • Create and enhance data entities and other data structures required to support reporting and business intelligence.
  • Develop or support reports utilizing technologies such as Power BI, SSRS, Financial Reporter, and Electronic Reporting.
  • Assist with data analysis, reporting requirements, and integration-related initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, accessibility, and reporting efficiency.
Project amp; Implementation Support
  • Provide consulting expertise for defined ERP projects, enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical recommendations.
  • Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, Microsoft partners, third-party vendors, and other consultants when specialized expertise is required.
  • Provide recommendations regarding ERP functionality, integrations, automation, and process improvements.
Documentation amp; Knowledge Transfer
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, process documentation, standard operating procedures, and technical/functional reference materials related to completed projects and solutions.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to designated internal users as appropriate.
  • Develop recommendations and guidance that enable internal teams to effectively utilize D365 F amp;O functionality.
  • Document solutions, configurations, workflows, and processes to support long-term system sustainability.
Cross-Functional Consulting
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Warehouse, and IT stakeholders to understand business needs and develop effective ERP solutions.
  • Facilitate discussions regarding business processes, system functionality, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide objective recommendations based on industry practices, system capabilities, and project requirements.
  • Support ERP optimization and digital transformation initiatives as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS amp; EXPERIENCE
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience supporting and/or implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance amp; Operations.
  • Extensive experience with D365 Supply Chain Management, including:
    • Inventory Management and Costing
    • Procurement and Purchasing
    • Warehouse Operations
    • Product Information Management
  • Advanced functional knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance amp; Operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing automation solutions using Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Experience creating data entities and reporting solutions using Power BI, SSRS, Financial Reporter, or Electronic Reporting.
  • Experience with one or more full-cycle D365 implementations.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, finance, inventory, procurement, and ERP business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into effective functional and technical solutions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of ERP best practices, process improvement, and business process automation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly document solutions, processes, and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders across multiple business functions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting organizations in wholesale distribution, retail, consumer products, or manufacturing.
  • Experience integrating Microsoft Dynamics 365 with Microsoft Power Platform applications.
  • Experience with Docentric document automation.
  • Knowledge of SQL, data integrations, APIs, and related reporting technologies.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications.
  • Experience working with third-party D365 implementation partners or consulting organizations.
ENGAGEMENT DETAILS
  • Engagement Type: Independent Contractor / 1099
  • Engagement: Project-based and/or as-needed consulting services
  • Compensation: Hourly rate based on experience, expertise, and scope of services
  • Work Arrangement: To be mutually agreed upon based on project requirements
  • Contractor will be responsible for their own applicable taxes, insurance, business expenses, equipment, and other obligations associated with independent contractor status, unless otherwise agreed upon in the consulting agreement.
  • This engagement does not include company-sponsored employee benefits, paid time off, or other benefits provided to FAF employees.
