Research And Insights Manager

Energy client is looking for a Research And Insights Manager, who will be a research practitioner in their corporate communications and marketing team. This is an onsite role with part-time hours (20 hours per week spread over 3 days a week) based at our client facility in Spring, TX (Houston, TX area). This candidate will play a pivotal role in understanding key stakeholder attitudes, behaviors, and opinions to inform marketing direction and decision making. This position requires the ability to distill and deliver insights that help drive both communications strategy and execution, track our corporate brand health, and help shape our broader advocacy plans. Core responsibilities of the role include planning, designing, and executing market research that meets the needs and objectives defined by our business partners; effectively managing timelines and setting appropriate scopes; collaborating with vendor partners; analyzing data from a range of different sources; and presenting findings in a clear and objective manner.

An individual must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with minimal guidance. We are looking for a part-time schedule at 20 hours/week, is not averse to some travel, and is self-driven/can work independently with little direction. Project Scope/Insights Partnership collaboration: Manages multiple small โ€“ to โ€“ medium cross functional research and analytics projects that support a business area. Business Partnerships: Proactively consults with Sr. leadership/business partners to understand goals/objectives, understands, and identifies key business issues, and formulates solutions and ideas to address current and future business opportunities. Serves as subject matter expert to the business on market research and insights. Problem Solving: Reviews proposed research hypotheses with a view towards investigating business issues. Reviews and advises on the most efficient and appropriate research methodology. Defines tactical methods and procedures to identify, collect, and collate complex and large data sets from research and/or customer surveys. Research and Data Analytics: Manages the development and application of research methodologies and analytics to address emerging and unanticipated business challenges and support data-driven decision making. Supports team members with the development of research and analytic approaches. Finds meaningful insights that can build knowledge and lead to action.

Top candidates will have: experience working in B2B business applications. Demonstrated interest in public policy, advocacy, and brand building. Ability to see the big picture without sacrificing attention to details. Strong communication skills that incorporate storytelling and promote simplicity and message clarity. An agile, curious, and self-motivated mindset. Productive collaboration skills and willingness to work with others to find and create value. A strong foundational understanding of market research, data analysis and data visualization skills. Experience managing and collaborating with third party research agencies. An objective and fact-based approach to sharing insights.

Physical activities: Travel domestically ~10% of total annual work hours to and from research facilities and/or partner offices. Communicates effectively in person and/or by using digital telecommunications technologies (zoom, teams, etc.). Creates documents and reports using a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, public affairs or related fields. 5+ years professional experience in marketing research, data analytics, consulting or related field, client or vendor side.

Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years working for a B2B company in a market research role. Has experience in Energy, Renewables, Oil and Gas. Has a good working understanding of various media tactics, brand building, measuring impact of media executions, and using data to drive decision making.
