Part-time; (25 hours per week) irregular work shifts (four-day work week), daytime, evening and weekend hours on rare occasions; nonexempt [FLSA]

Core work hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. three days of the week, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, and one day off per week (Tues., Wed., or Thurs...your choice).

JOB SUMMARY

The Cafe Attendant is responsible for waiting on and serving the public, preparing recipes using cafe guidelines, and carrying out other duties in support of the Cafe department and the library.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(percentages are approximate; duties are illustrative, not exclusive)

A. Wait on and serving the public, which includes

  1. preparing and serving food and beverages for customersโ€™ orders,
  2. operating the cash register,
  3. providing backup to other cafe employees, and
  4. cleaning cafe equipment and surfaces.

These duties and responsibilities account for 75% of the work time.

B. Prepare recipes using cafe guidelines, which includes

  1. baking using cafe guidelines,
  2. using specialized cafe equipment, and
  3. maintaining a clean and hygienic work area in accordance with health and safety regulations.

These duties and responsibilities account for 20% of the work time.

C. Carry out other duties in support of the Cafe department and the library, which includes

  1. participating in staff meetings, staff development programs, in-service days, library committees, and professional development activities; and
  2. performing other duties as assigned.

These duties and responsibilities account for 5% of the work time.
