Koelbel Library is seeking two part-time Library Specialists to support meaningful experiences for patrons of all ages.
About the Role
Koelbel Library is a trusted and inclusive gathering place for the Centennial community, known for its accessible resources, impactful programming, and strong community relationships. In this frontline role, you'll greet patrons with care, assist with materials and technology, and help create a positive experience for everyone who visits the library. Whether you're helping a patron find their next great read, navigating technology questions, or supporting daily operations, you'll play an important role in ensuring that every visitor feels welcomed, supported, and connected. Your flexibility, curiosity, and collaborative spirit will help our team provide exceptional service while responding to the evolving needs of our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patrons, answer questions, and assist with accounts and resources
- Promote programs and services while maintaining an inviting and inclusive environment
- Process, shelve, and display materials with accuracy and care
Technology Assistance
- Support and empower patrons using public computers, mobile devices, and printing tools
- Provide basic troubleshooting and help with reservable technology and spaces
- Navigate the Integrated Library System to manage patron and collection needs
Learning and Development
- Stay current on library services and digital tools
- Share knowledge and collaborate with teammates
- Embrace opportunities for learning and continuous improvement
Community Engagement
- Connect authentically with patrons from all backgrounds
- Help set expectations and boundaries with empathy and clarity
- Reflect library values in every interaction, especially around equity, inclusion, and respect

Qualifications
Required
- At least one year of experience in customer service, libraries, or education/teaching
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes a mix of days, evenings, and weekends
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and Microsoft Teams
- Comfort serving patrons of all ages and from diverse backgrounds
- Curiosity and willingness to explore and learn library technologies alongside patrons
- Ability to clearly communicate new ideas, services, and resources in a positive and engaging way
- Enthusiasm for working in an environment of continual growth and change
Preferred
Experience working with children and teens
Schedule Requirements
These part-time positions follow a consistent three-week rotation with the following schedules.
Option 1 (20-hours)
- Week 1: Sunday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
- Week 2: Monday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Friday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
- Week 3: Sunday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Option 2 (20-hours)
- Week 1: Sunday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
- Week 2: Monday 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Week 3: Sunday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
