Job Summary:
The Kitchen Assistant reports to the Kitchen Manager. The Kitchen Assistant - on part time basis supervises - the kitchen volunteers in the preparation and handling of all food when the Kitchen Manager is not present. He/She is responsible for the general cleanliness, food safety, and appearance of the Brother Benno kitchen and dining facility. In addition, he/she manages inventory, oversee food distribution, temperatures and ensures adequate number of food servers for each meal served. This position is an hourly position and will sometimes require execution of duties outside normal work hours.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees execution of work performed by kitchen volunteers
  • Ensures work is executed in a safe environment
  • Documents injury reports

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 year's work experience in related field or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently supervise volunteers.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to read and understand food handling instructions.
