Job description

What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a Year Round - Technical Graduate Intern to join our dynamic team!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Perform entry-level work within a technical science and engineering environment.
  • Support Sandia staff on interdisciplinary projects that involve applying integrated technical judgment which requires using critical thinking skills and the scientific method to recognize and formulate problems, to collect data through observation and experimentation, and to formulate and test hypotheses about the uses and deployment of emerging and advanced technologies in support of US nonproliferation and security goals.
  • Conduct analyses in support of research security and emerging technology programs
  • Support efforts to develop project risk/decision analysis models, work with visiting foreign scholars to introduce them to technologies that support implementation of security treaties and agreements
  • Support projects for Sandia's Cooperative Monitoring Center, including policy dialogues, distinguished speakers, and alumni, develop training materials to support sponsor efforts to improve nuclear security and sanctions enforcement in countries around the world, and coordinate domestic and international events.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range
At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
  • Earned bachelor's degree
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited graduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire
  • Currently enrolled in STEM plus Law, Political Science, International Affairs, or Strategic Trade
  • Experience in international affairs and/or security studies, preferably with a specific focus on nonproliferation, nuclear deterrence, international trade and export controls, supply chain analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Ability to perform research on international policy and security issues, to synthesize and analyze complex source materials, and to present research results
  • Ability to analyze corporate policy and determine complaint solutions
  • Experience in data analysis including quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Knowledge of project management, financial reporting, and event logistics
  • Capability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally in support of programs if necessary
  • Demonstrated versatility, political savvy, and high tolerance for ambiguity
  • Experience traveling, working, or studying in international settings

Security Clearance
