Roadrunnerยฎ Food Bank of New Mexico, a Feeding America member, is the largest non-profit dedicated to solving food insecurity in New Mexico. As a food distribution hub, we provide food to hundreds of affiliated member partners around the state including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and regional food banks. We also distribute food through specialized programs helping children, families and seniors at schools, low-income senior housing sites, senior centers and with and through health care partnerships. Every week, tens of thousands of hungry children, seniors and families are reached through this statewide hunger relief network. We are woking together with our partners, volunteers and contributors to end food insecurity and hunger in New Mexico.

We are a small but mighty team of 4, looking to expand to 5 so that we can better serve the fabulous employees of RRFB. This role is critical because it embodies our "people first" department philosophy and our need to speak to people about sensitive matters like payroll, benefits, and employee discipline. Position Overview
The Part-Time People amp; Culture Generalist will run the daily functions of the People amp; Culture (P amp;C) department, including hiring amp; onboarding, benefits, timekeeping, payroll, learning amp; development, performance management, employee relations, and any amp; all other HR needs from the employees of RRFB. This position serves as the โ€œright handโ€ of the Director of People amp; Culture, and the team lead for the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and records compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborating with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee wellness, recognition, and engagement programs
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute People amp; Culture programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Maintains confidentiality in all sensitive matters
  • Assists other departments in translating/interpreting in Spanish for ESL employees
  • Abides by the People amp; Culture departmentโ€™s โ€œpeople firstโ€ attitude; treats other RRFB staff members as internal customers
  • Acts as a brand ambassador for Roadrunner Food Bank in all professional settings, both internally and externally
