Job description

The University of Virginia Department of Athletics is seeking Football Chain Crew Staff to perform duties to assist in the game day operations of the various intercollegiate sports within the University's Department of Athletics.
Employees in these roles should possess strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills and work well in a team dynamic. The ability to observe an entire game while paying close attention to specific details and following highly specific directions is required. The abilities to work evening, night, and weekend hours and to work outdoors in high or low temperatures will also be required.
Position Compensation: $20.00 Hourly
This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. For more information, refer to the Wage Employment link: http://uvapolicy.virginia.edu/policy/HRM-029

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Some related experience staffing athletic events, or at least 1 year of experience as a game operations event staff employee, sport coach or athlete, or as a game official at high school, collegiate, or professional athletic events
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Abilities to communicate with Athletics staff, officials, and other event staff while working as part of a team, to observe an entire game while paying close attention to specific details and following highly specific directions, to sit in high or low outdoor temperatures for extended hours, and to work night and weekend hours
  • Strong knowledge of the rules of various intercollegiate sports and of the NCAA rules and regulations associated with these sports is preferred
