Position Overview
The Events Specialist assists in facilitating all events and activities for designated area. This includes scheduling, preparing contracts and receiving payments, taking charge of the logistics of the event, as well as outreach and marketing efforts.
What you will be doing
  • Coordinates event logistics, including work orders, set up and strike
  • Manages the needs of clients using the facilities
  • Liaises with organizers and related vendors
  • Prepares and executes contracts, ensures all needed paperwork is in place before events
  • Processes payments and deposits
  • Maintains current and accurate information on website
  • Assists with promotion of activities via social media, distribution of e-blasts and flyers
  • Participates in meetings to identify potential programs and organizations with whom to partner or solicit for rentals
  • Provides detailed information about event activities to the general public when answering calls or answering e-mails
  • Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of experience
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Possess detail-oriented and highly organized skills
  • Possess superior follow through skills to ensure all activities are executed successfully
  • Possess strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
  • Possess marketing, outreach, and advertising skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and take initiative, with little supervision
  • Ability to make and keep excellent working relationships with college departments, vendors and groups in the community
  • Ability to problem solve in high pressure situations with a professional demeanor
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Possess excellent attention to customer service
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff
