Job description

Description:

Part-Time IT Technician

Part-Time • Armada, MI (On-Site) • Reports to Director of Data, Systems & Ecommerce • Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill

Who We Are & About This Role

Since 1946, Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill has been a cornerstone of Michigan agriculture and agritourism — an 80-year family operation with deep roots in Armada and a genuine growth ambition. We make world-class hard and sweet cider, operate tasting rooms and retail across four locations, and host thousands of guests a year.

Our IT team supports a wide range of users and facilities — from corporate offices to packhouse operations and retail locations. The Part-Time IT Technician is a hands-on generalist role: help desk tickets, facility hardware, and business software support for the tools our teams rely on every day.

This role is approximately 20 hours per week, with coverage needed primarily during our summer and fall peak seasons when retail, agritourism, and packhouse activity are at their highest. Hours may flex down in winter and spring — making this a strong fit for someone whose schedule moves with the seasons.

If you enjoy variety, like solving real problems with real people, and want to work somewhere that’s actually doing something — we want to hear from you.

Your Role With Blake’s — Key Responsibilities

End-User Support

You’re the first line of help for our team. Responsive, clear, and thorough.

• Respond to Tier 1 and Tier 2 tickets in Freshservice — accounts, access, hardware, printing, AV, and general “how do I…” questions

• Provision, image, and deploy laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals

• Support Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and standard productivity tools

• Handle user onboarding and offboarding tasks: account setup, equipment, and access

• Document fixes and update knowledge base articles for recurring issues

Software & Application Support

Blake’s runs on a lot of tools. You’ll keep them working and help people get the most out of them.

• Support and troubleshoot business software across Blake Farms — point-of-sale, e-commerce, inventory, ticketing, accounting, scheduling, label and printing software, and other line-of-business tools

• Assist users with setup, configuration, account access, and day-to-day application questions

• Coordinate with software vendors on support tickets, license management, and escalations

• Help with software updates, basic integrations, and routine checks that keep applications running smoothly

Facility & Field Tech

This isn’t a desk-only role. You’ll be on-site across locations, keeping the infrastructure solid.

• Support on-site IT infrastructure: switches, access points, printers, scales, scanners, label printers, packhouse and retail hardware

• Troubleshoot connectivity, hardware, and peripheral issues across multiple Blake Farms locations

• Assist with cabling, rack work, and equipment installs and moves as needed

• Perform routine checks on networking, point-of-sale, and operational tech

Team & Process

• Keep tickets, asset records, and documentation accurate and current

• Escalate appropriately and coordinate with our external IT vendor on overlay support

• Identify recurring problems and bring forward practical improvements

What Great Looks Like — Qualifications

You don’t need a long résumé. You need good instincts, solid fundamentals, and a willingness to get things done.

Required

• 1–3 years of hands-on IT support experience — help desk, MSP, internal IT, or equivalent

• Solid working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory / Entra ID basics

• Comfortable with networking fundamentals: DHCP, DNS, basic VLANs, Wi-Fi troubleshooting

• Strong customer service skills — patient, clear communicator, follows through

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, work on ladders, and move between sites as needed

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between Blake Farms locations

• Must reside within 30 minutes of Armada, MI — this is an on-site role with occasional after-hours response needs

• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

• CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications

• Experience with Freshservice or another ticketing system

• Familiarity with point-of-sale, label printer, or warehouse and packhouse hardware

• Background in retail, food and beverage, manufacturing, or agribusiness IT

• Basic scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, etc.)

How You’re Rewarded — Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly rate based on experience, employee discount on Blake Farms products, and the culture of a family business where your work actually matters. Full details shared during the interview process.
