Summary Performs job duties in a way that promotes a positive image of the City organizations and the department: demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and delivers exemplary customer service. Essential Functions Prepare material lists and step-by-step procedures for substation projects and work orders; Perform system modeling tasks such as entering data into models, running reports and printing them in a presentable format; Balance load for substation circuits as well as overall load allocation for all substations; Calculate impedance, short circuit currents, and X/R ratios for the transmission and distribution system; Determine where to place capacitors and air switches to optimize the operation of the distribution equipment; Prepare request for proposal documents for purchasing transmission and distribution equipment; Preparation of technical drawings for new facilities and improvements to existing overhead and underground facilities. Qualifications Completion of an associate's degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following: *** Critical Infrastructure: This position has been determined to have close contact with, or control of Critical Infrastructure components.

This position is subject to extensive background checks and random drug screening. *** Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of: Engineering techniques along with creativity to solve complex problems; Ability to: Communicate effectively orally and in writing; Solve complex problems; Work well with others; Effectively use Microsoft Office computer software programs.
