Compliance and Academic Coordinator-Nursing
STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: College of Health Professions
LOCATION: Lettinga Campus-Grand Rapids
REPORTS TO: Department Chair of Nursing
PAY: $32,000
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating compliance activities and academic operations within the nursing program, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, affiliation agreements, and institutional policies. The Compliance and Academic Coordinator serves as a key liaison among nursing leadership, faculty, and students, monitoring student compliance and maintaining accurate documentation to support ongoing clinical partnerships, accreditation, and other regulatory requirements. This role also provides administrative support to the nursing program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, a thorough understanding of program and clinical requirements, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced academic healthcare environment. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values, which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor student compliance in meeting college, program, and clinical requirements in computerized data systems, including but not limited to:
    • Verified Credentials: Criminal Background Check and Drug Screen
    • ACEMAPP Assure & Collaborate: Clinical Requirements (immunizations, health tests, BLS, licensure)
    • Handshake: Attesting student compliance
    • Clinician Nexus: Attesting student compliance
    • Manage HLTH 101N/R sections in Blackboard Ultra
    • CORELMS
    • New systems as they are adopted
  • Assists nursing program leadership to ensure that nursing students complete all clinical requirements, including, but not limited to: immunization documentation, health testing, BLS certification, and RN licensure (when applicable), in a timely manner.
  • Maintains regular communication with students, nursing program directors, and clinical coordinators on the status of student compliance.
  • Maintain, process, and manipulate electronic data using word processing, databases, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
  • Maintains all records relating to affiliation agreements with clinical sites and all other documents in compliance with University policies, and maintains appropriate documentation for compliance and accreditation.
  • Assists nursing program leadership in accreditation and MBON reporting requirements as directed.
  • Organize data for departmental reports.
  • Update and recommend content for departmental web pages.
  • Assist nursing program leadership and faculty with administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.

  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems.

  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to: standard criminal background check and employment reference checks. Select positions may be subject to drug/alcohol screening.
  • Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Some travel between locations required (own transportation).
  • No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
