Department: Sourcing
Position: Remote - Part Time
Rate: $35.00 - $39.00 per hour
About this role
The Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Specialist plays a key role in supporting product safety, regulatory compliance, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs across OR. This position helps ensure alignment with applicable regulatory requirements, industry expectations, and internal standards while monitoring the evolving compliance landscape to identify potential impacts and opportunities. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners, the Specialist provides guidance and expertise to support compliant business practices, promote responsible product stewardship, and contribute to OR's broader operational and strategic objectives. Reports to Senior Director of Sourcing.
What you will do
  • Point Person for EPR - Textile and Packaging
  • Heavily Monitor and manage for EPR, Chemical Management, PFAS, Prop65, Environmental and Product Safety

Legislation (CPSC handled by Logistics)
  • Voluntary Carbon Offset Program - exiting this program across departments or replacing it (Finance on board)
  • Sustainability Retailer Surveys, as needed
  • Creating OR SOPs for TE Standards and Organic Cotton
  • Interpretation of new laws and regulations, assess business impacts and communicate recommendations.
  • 2x month meeting with Manager between 9am-5pm PST M-F (1 hr).
  • Required: Monthly Summaries of completion rate of work with logged hours.

What this role is not
  • Setting Sustainability strategy
  • Regular quality/testing checking (maybe there's a one-off here or there but not in main responsibility)
  • Attending conferences
  • International compliance knowledge or knowledge of requirements outside of the US & Canada (it's great to have but not really applicable here yet)
  • Vendor/mill management
  • Warranty/returns processing

Position Requirements

  • Demonstrated collaboration, interpersonal influence, and teamwork skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, visualization, communication abilities.
  • Hands-on, action-oriented approach to gathering data and navigating internal and external sources.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and initiative to drive timely resolutions.
  • Exceptional data & analytical - detail oriented.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sustainability, Textiles/Apparel Production, Environmental Sciences or other relevant areas with understanding of supply chain and manufacturing.
  • 2-4 years experience in product compliance regulations, standards, and testing protocols.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, database skills a plus
