Position Summary
The UNM-Taos Department of Career and Technical Education invites applicants to apply for a Temporary Part-Time Faculty (Adjunct) member to teach one of the following subject areas for Fall of 2026. This posting is primarily for face-to-face instruction and potentially some remote delivery of courses.
These positions will be hired on an as needed basis dependent on student enrollment, course offering matrix, and graduation requirements. The specific courses include, but are not limited to, the following:
ELTR 2605 - Photovoltaics: This course is an introduction to the fundamentals associated with Photovoltaic systems. Topics cover PV market analysis, the solar resource, electrical PV principles, solar module fundamentals, system components, types of systems, site assessment, system applications, energy production analysis, and best practice code compliant practices including mounting, wiring, and interconnecting systems to the utility. Anyone interested in knowing more about the solar industry or anyone working in fields associated with solar energy will benefit from this course.
CNST 1160: Plumbing Theory: Covers occupational introductions, human relations, safety, tools and equipment used in plumbers trade, plumbing components, sizes of various residential and commercial plumbing systems, pipe fittings, pipe joining and cost estimation.
CNST 1220 - Construction Project Management 1: An introduction to residential building construction-site observation, quantity surveying, cost analysis, subcontractor and material prices solicitation and summary and tabulation for a total bid price.
ARCH 1130 - Sketching Workshop: An introduction to sketching strategies and techniques using various media through instructor demonstration, experimentation, and coaching. Students first meet in the studio and then meet on location to practice sketching and review and assess together while enjoying the sights and sounds of Taos. Students plan and prepare for a group gallery show /exhibit as the last meeting.
WOOD 1110 - Introduction to the Fine Art of Woodworking: Introduces students to using wood as a medium for realizing design ideas. By designing and building a small table, students learn to choose a wood that complements the design, milling techniques, mortise and tenon joinery, edge gluing, surface preparation; and application of water-based finish. Students learn the safe use of the radial arm saw, jointer, planer, table saw, handsaw, drill press, horizontal boring machine, and router.
CADT 171 - Computer Modeling 3D Printing: Introduces students to the computer programs used for 3D printing. Students will learn to Import and Export CAD data and generate .STL files. Students will select specific material for the given application.
We propose a base salary of $1,135.26 to $1,227.89 per credit hour depending on successful candidates' qualifications. This posting is for both face to face and remote delivery of courses.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
To teach or develop courses in the field or subfield for which you are applying are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met in these ways:
A Bachelor's Degree AND professional experience in the area which they are applying to teach. Applicant must have completed a program of study in the discipline or subfield in which they teach, with coursework at least one level above that of the courses being taught or developed.
OR tested experience that is determined to be equivalent to the degree and qualifies an instructor for the instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly a community college.
2. A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understand of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
3. Strong working knowledge of construction site safety practices, including OSHA standards (OSHA 10 or 30 preferred)
4. Ability to teach foundational skills as well as intermediate techniques across multiple trades
5. Familiarity with building codes, permitting processes, and industry best practices (local code knowledge a plus
6. Willingness to coordinate with program faculty on curriculum alignment, shop scheduling, and equipment use
