SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The City of San Marcos welcomes qualified applications for the position of Part Time City Clerk Specialist. This position will be located within the City Clerk Department. The City Clerk is responsible for the citywide records management program including maintaining and protecting all vital, permanent and historic records.
Hours Required:
Monday through Friday (alternating Fridays off): 4 hours per day, consistent schedule

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Under supervision, performs a variety of clerical and filing duties necessary for the City Clerk Department, including, but not limited to, scanning, organizing and filing documents, typing, data entry, assisting with special projects; and performing related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Filing systems; modern office methods and practices; customer service; various office equipment and machines including copier, calculator, and computer utilizing various software programs including the Microsoft Office suite; letter writing; proofreading and editing; and basic business mathematics.
Ability to:
Operate office equipment including scanning, data entry keyboards, copy and fax equipment, printers; receive and apply such training as required; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; cooperatively handle a wide variety of tasks; effectively prioritize; perform all duties with composure; use good judgment in the scope of assigned authority; attention to detail; establish and maintain effective relationships with City employees and members of the public; and demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity of the community.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education/Experience:
Education equivalent to high school graduate with experience and/or training providing the required knowledge and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
This is a part time non-benefited position, however effective 07/01/2015 part time employees will receive 1 hour of sick leave accrual per 30 hours worked. Employees in this category are eligible to use up to 27 hours per year and are able to carry over up to 54 sick leave hours per year.
