Job description

Position Overview


The PCC Audio Visual Technician (Part Time) supports the setup, operation, and breakdown of audio-visual equipment for meetings, conferences, and events within assigned venue locations. Working under the direction of the PCC Management Team or designated venue leadership, this role assists with event preparation, technical operation, and equipment handling to ensure successful event execution and a high level of client service. Responsibilities may vary depending on event complexity, technician experience, and operational needs. This position is an hourly, part-time, non-exempt role scheduled based on event demand and venue activity up to a maximum 30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Candidate should have a good working technical knowledge of meeting room AV and breakout equipment, as well as strong customer service delivery.
  • 2+ years of experience combined in AV Operations and technician operations of AV equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of video equipment including single screen projection configuration, playback, basic switching, simple camera operation.
  • Basic knowledge of audio equipment including 2 speaker and 2.1 speaker setup and configuration, ability to ring a room out and tune the speaker, setup and manage multiple wireless microphones including RF coordination.
  • Basic knowledge of lighting and power distribution.
  • Setup wireless and wired DMX and simply color a space or set up a simple stage wash.
  • Connect power distribution and check it is delivering power connectivity.
  • Basic knowledge of Meeting Room AV including operation of Zoom and Teams meeting including screen sharing, basic computer configuration and connection to the internet. Using products like web-cameras, external mics and Owls.
  • Must be self-motivated, responsible, dependable, adaptable, problem-solving skills, and must possess excellent client relationship/interacting skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and have excellent organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills, managing multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively handling stressful situations while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Must be willing to work the hours that the property and their clients' events require.
  • Candidates need to possess the ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups are required, as well as the ability to work with the property and warehouse operations teams to deliver successful shows and events.
  • Must be proficient with Google Drive (Doc and Sheets), PowerPoint and Outlook.

Event Setup & Execution

  • Assist with the setup, testing, and breakdown of audio-visual equipment including projectors, screens, audio systems, lighting, and video equipment.
  • Prepare meeting rooms and event spaces according to event orders and technical requirements.
  • Support or operate AV systems during events including microphones, presentation switching, video playback, and basic lighting control.
  • Assist presenters with laptop connections and presentation setup.

Technical Support

  • Provide basic troubleshooting of AV equipment during live events
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the Director of Event Technology or senior technical staff when necessary.
  • Support smooth event operation by monitoring equipment performance throughout the event.

Equipment Handling

  • Transport, stage, and properly secure audio-visual equipment within venue spaces.
  • Ensure proper cable management and equipment safety standards are followed.
  • Pack and return equipment to designated storage areas following events.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment.

Client & Venue Support

  • Maintain a professional and service-oriented presence when interacting with clients, presenters, and venue staff.
  • Respond to basic technical requests during events in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the PCC Leadership Team or event leadership regarding event progress or technical needs.
  • Operational Support.
  • Follow company operational procedures and venue guidelines.
  • Assist with maintaining organized equipment storage areas when needed.
  • ยทSupport load-in, setup, event operation, and strike as required by event schedules.

Job Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment or live event technology preferred.
  • Previous experience in events, hospitality, production, or technical support environments is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an event production team.
  • Strong reliability, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
  • Footwear meeting ASTM F2413 standards.
  • OSHA 10, Forklift Certification, MEWP Certification preferred.
  • Truss assembly experience preferred.
