Job description

What You'll Do: The Office of Communications is seeking a Visual Communications Manager to develop, plan & administer overall visual communications program for ODH & supervise assigned staff. This position will:
  • Manage visual communications team & activities/projects including graphic design & video projects (e.g., promotion/information videos, training videos, public service announcements, traditional & digital marketing communications, print collateral, digital design, brand standards, & photography)
  • Advise agency staff (i.e., executive & senior management staff) in conjunction with marketing manager on production of creative services products to promote the agency, bureaus & programs
  • Consult with stakeholders & clients on creative service needs
  • Ensure creative services brand standards & communications policies & procedures are adhered to for all productions
  • Direct & oversee creative services staff (e.g., provides technical & creative advice, monitors & delegates daily work activities, identifies staff development needs & provides training or coaching, onboards & trains new employees, participates in recruitment process which includes conducting interviews & evaluating candidates, reviews & approves leave requests in accordance with established policies, completes employee performance evaluations within required time frames, facilitates regular staff meetings to communicate goals, updates, & expectations, recommends or initiates corrective &/or disciplinary action when appropriate)
  • Manage full-scale video production in collaboration with videographers (e.g., scheduling, scripting, storyboarding, filming, audio engineering, editing)
  • Work with the Office of Communications team on full scale production, development, & promotion, & generates additional materials for the ODH Podcast
  • Act as technical liaison to resolve most complex issues related to audio-visual (AV) equipment testing

Qualifications
48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in electronic graphics AND 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in web site creation, design &/or development.
-Or completion of associate core program in visual communication technology or multimedia production technology AND 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in web site creation, design &/or development.
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in visual communications with emphasis on graphic design/industrial design AND 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in web site creation, design &/or development.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
