Job Title: Maintenance Groundskeeper
Starting Salary: $11.00 per hour

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of all grounds and outdoor areas. This position ensures that landscaping, lawns, and exterior facilities are well-kept and presentable for students, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mow, edge, and maintain lawns, fields, and landscaped areas
  • Plant, water, prune, and fertilize trees, shrubs, and flowers
  • Remove weeds, debris, trash, and litter from grounds and walkways
  • Maintain irrigation systems and assist with minor repairs
  • Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow/ice treatment (if applicable), and planting
  • Ensure sidewalks, parking lots, and outdoor areas are safe and free of hazards
  • Support campus or facility events with setup and cleanup as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures and report any maintenance or safety concerns
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to operate basic landscaping equipment
  • Basic knowledge of lawn care and plant maintenance
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily outdoor work in various weather conditions
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and landscaping equipment

Additional Requirements:

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed


ANNUAL SALARY/BENEFITS:Highly competitive and commensurate with experience and credentials. Group health and life insurance (60 day waiting period for health) and retirement benefits (TRS or ORP). Optional benefits include disability and dental insurance.
