SEDOL Overview
Welcome to the Special Education District of Lake County. SEDOL is a cooperative educational system working with 31 local school districts to serve their students facing physical, emotional, and other learning challenges. Language and Social Skills Opportunities Program (LASSO 2)

A program for students from preschool to high school who exhibit characteristics generally associated with autism spectrum disorders and require a highly structured, specialized program. The program meets individual needs for communication, social skills, sensory needs, functional academics, and self-help skills. This program focuses on skills presented through a modified curriculum based on the Illinois Learning Standards. These classrooms are generally in public school buildings, and mainstreaming opportunities are available. Sponsored parent involvement activities are available throughout the school year.

Description:
Special Education Paraprofessionals support teachers in carrying out assignments with special education students as part of the daily routine. We have an openings for a 1:1 paraprofessional and classroom paraprofessionals in our Lasso II program at multiple locations in Lake County. The paraprofessional supports the classroom teacher with instructional and emotional growth.ย 

A Day in the Life of a LASSO 2 Paraprofessional:ย 

  • Data Collection
  • Bathroom Support (including but not limited to: diapering, potty training, etc)
  • Implement curricular tools and behavior management strategies under the guidance of the teacher and/or related service providers
  • Promote Student Independence
  • Prepare classroom materials and support overall classroom organization, structure and cleanliness

Job Type: Full-time, 2026-2027 School Year
