Job description

The Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. School is a therapeutic day school in Tinley Park, Illinois. We are Illinois State Board of Education certified and serve intellectually and developmentally delayed students ages three until twenty-one. Our curriculum is provided twelve months a year, with one week breaks between the trimesters.
The Paraprofessional is responsible for implementing all assigned classroom duties, IEP goals, objectives and behavior interventions specific to an assigned child with a variety of special needs, as well as a small group of students in a classroom.
Schedule: 1st Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 3:15 PM
Pay rate: $23.45
Responsibilities:
  • Implements the program and classroom activities that are written by the LBS1.
  • As supervised by the LBS1, implements curriculum chosen through research and best practice as part of the teaching process and other classroom activities.
  • Maintains and collects data on student behavior as indicated in the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (B.I.P.) and as directed and trained by the B.C.B.A.
  • Is fully knowledgeable of all behavior management programs for students in the classroom and is capable of implementing these programs in both structured and unstructured settings and activities.
  • Provides data related to completion of the goals and objectives of the IEP and programs for child assigned and small group as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Experience with behavior de-escalation, preferred.
  • Preference will be given to any personnel that have worked with or have had experience with ABA Therapy.
  • Certified by the State of Illinois as a paraprofessional or substitute. Information on how to apply for the paraprofessional or substitute licensure can be found through the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Must provide at least two references that strongly indicate an interest in children, the ability to implement and follow through on directives, potential to function as an aide in a classroom and professional growth potential.
  • Must possess a valid IL driver's license meeting DCFS approval.
  • Must Pass a criminal background check and physical/drug test.
