Job description

Please note that this is a grant funded position with funding through June 30, 2027.
Sprint Car Paramedics will demonstrate multifunctional roles throughout LRH organization. Sprint Car Paramedics main focus will be 911 calls and interfacility transfers. Other responsibilities will include but not limited to education, ER support, supporting local BLS services, and hospital safety.
Some of the key responsibilities of a paramedic include:
  1. Responding to emergency calls and providing on-site medical assistance.
  2. Assessing patients' conditions, including vital signs, and making quick decisions on the appropriate course of action.
  3. Administering necessary medical treatments, such as CPR, oxygen, medications, and wound care.
  4. Stabilizing injured or critically ill patients and preparing them for transportation to hospitals or other medical facilities.
  5. Operating and maintaining medical equipment, such as defibrillators, ventilators, and intravenous lines.
  6. Communicating with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and nurses, to provide updates on patients' conditions and receive further instructions.
  7. Documenting all medical procedures, treatments, and observations accurately and in a timely manner.
  8. Providing emotional support to patients and their families during traumatic situations.
  9. Participating in ongoing training and continuing education to stay updated on the latest medical techniques and procedures. (ie., community paramedic certification, critical care certification, or others as applicable)
  10. Adhering to medical protocols, ethical standards, and legal requirements in the provision of emergency medical care.
  11. Attend Community events to provide onsite medical care and first-aid support, enhancing community outreach.
  12. Quality improvement or management activities for ambulance services in our PSA.
  13. Attend local fire meetings and trainings to help with community education and outreach.
  14. Providing education and mentorship opportunities to area students or others interested in joining Emergency Medicine.

Hours/Shifts
48 hours biweekly, Day/PM 12 hour shifts, every third weekend.
Compensation
Hourly wage range: $26.89-$36.16/hour. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

  7. Must have ability to recognize changes in patient's behavior or condition, which might require intervention, and to report observations to the physician/APP and RN and respond appropriately.
  8. Able to work cooperatively with other health team members respecting the knowledge and skills of each discipline.
  9. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Able to organize and prioritize work. Effective problem solving skills.
  11. Must relate well to patients and families in a kind and supportive manner.
