Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP's nationally-recognized Private Client Services group is seeking a highly motivated Tax Litigation Paralegal Assistant to join our team.
As a member of the Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP professional support staff team, this position is responsible for promoting and maintaining the goodwill and reputation of the firm. In this capacity, the Tax Litigation Paralegal Assistant is expected to maintain the highest level of professional conduct and confidentiality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.
• Assist litigation paralegals with all phases of litigation case support, including document/information management, discovery, and trial support.
• Organize and maintain case files, pleadings, and documents.
• Prepare case/matter and attorney notebooks.
• Summarize articles, reports, witness statements, and depositions.
• Obtain factual information from clients and third parties, including governmental agencies.
• Perform computer database input and retrieval.
• Draft and revise legal documents and basic correspondence.
• Prepare material for in-house and outside distribution.
• Manage the distribution of data and materials.
• Search and/or retrieve soft and hard copy documents containing information requested by the lawyer or paralegal.
• Maintain practice group form files and systems, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties.
• Prepare material for duplication.
• Keep accurate time records.
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
• Demonstrated skills in document/information management.
• Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with firm lawyers and paralegals, staff, client personnel, and other professionals.
• Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Work well under pressure and independently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple assignments, and work well under pressure.
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the firm's attendance expectations.
SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED
• Demonstrated ability to take the initiative, exercise discretion, and use independent judgment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of one year of related work experience, or equivalent.
• Four-year degree or equivalent is required.
• Having paralegal assistant or legal support experience is preferred.
• Paralegal Certificate is a plus.
This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance, accrued paid time off plan starting at 20 days annually, personal medical and parental leave, up to 10 paid holidays, and family care benefits. The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.
Washington state compensation range: $44,460 to $62,670 annually
