Job Title: Paralegal 1 / General Legal Assistant (Remote - West Coast, PST Hours)
Job Description
The Paralegal 1 / General Legal Assistant supports a newly formed global frontline legal team and business groups on commercial legal matters. The role focuses on triaging incoming legal requests, gathering and analyzing information from business partners, identifying applicable legal and compliance considerations, and drafting recommended guidance and solutions for review by Paralegals and the broader legal team. This position offers the opportunity to work within one of the largest in-house legal environments in the world, with a strong emphasis on technology, process efficiency, and professional growth.
Responsibilities
  • Triage incoming commercial legal matters in a shared frontline workspace and route them to appropriate internal resources and functions.
  • Assist and support routine legal processes and standard commercial legal matters under the direction of Paralegals and attorneys.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk legal matters to Frontline Paralegals for deeper review and guidance.
  • Collect relevant information and documentation from business groups to support analysis of legal and compliance issues.
  • Analyze policies, legal documents, and applicable regulations to help identify key legal and compliance considerations.
  • Draft recommended guidance, summaries, and proposed solutions for commercial legal matters for review by Paralegals and the legal team.
  • Maintain, update, and organize Legal Self-Help business readiness resources and related documentation.
  • Support case and document management activities using case management software and internal compliance platforms.
  • Provide legal administrative and general legal support, including document preparation, formatting, and tracking.
  • Contribute to process improvements and more efficient workflows for matter routing and triage.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders, presenting ideas and recommendations as needed.
  • Manage assigned tasks and projects with basic project management practices, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Handle a high volume of incoming requests while prioritizing effectively with minimal guidance.
  • Work independently within established guidelines while collaborating closely with Paralegals and other legal team members.
Essential Skills
  • 0-2 years of experience using legal research tools and document or case management systems, including internal compliance platforms.
  • 0-2 years of experience drafting and reviewing legal documents with accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • 0-2 years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and case management software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with close attention to detail.
  • Customer service and assistance-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to analyze and understand policies, legal documents, and applicable legal frameworks.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint in addition to Word and Excel.
  • Experience in legal operations or supporting in-house legal teams or law firms, ideally in a technology-focused environment.
  • Strong program or project management abilities and comfort working with minimal guidance.

Work Environment
This is a fully remote role for candidates located on the U.S. West Coast, with a preference for those in the Seattle area, and requires working standard Pacific Time (PST) business hours, Monday through Friday, approximately 40 hours per week. The position operates within a large, sophisticated in-house legal environment that handles a high volume of commercial legal matters and emphasizes efficient workflows, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will use standard office productivity tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as case management software and internal compliance platforms. A standard laptop will be provided. The work is primarily computer-based, involving digital workspaces and shared platforms for triage, documentation, and communication. Pay and Benefits
