Summary

The Packaging Operator supports pharmaceutical manufacturing operations by performing packaging line activities, operating production equipment, and ensuring products are packaged according to quality and cGMP standards. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate production records, monitoring equipment performance, assisting with changeovers, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform packaging line operations including operating and monitoring equipment, product inspection, hand cartoning, packing, labeling, palletizing, hopper filling, and line cleanup.
  • Assist with line clearances, batch changeovers, and equipment cleaning activities following established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and error-free Line Packaging Records (LPR) and other production documentation.
  • Follow production documents, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Monitor production operations for deviations, mechanical issues, and quality concerns, and report findings promptly.
  • Support safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Attend required training sessions and complete annual compliance training.
  • Perform duties in other production areas as assigned.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous manufacturing or packaging experience required; experience in a GMP-regulated facility preferred.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to disassemble and reassemble manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic reading comprehension and math skills required to interpret technical instructions and complete production calculations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs. throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including white zone gowning and various respirators such as half-face, full-face, hooded, and dust mask respirators.
