About the Role:
As our Packaging Designer, you will:
  • Follow best practices for structural creation to make sure customer's needs are addressed.
  • Lead the design process for folding carton packaging which includes brainstorming, sketching, and creating prototypes.
  • Work with clients to understand their packaging structural needs.
  • Evaluate consumer and market trends for packaging materials.
  • Conduct research relating to technology, techniques, innovations, new products, and new materials.
  • Understand and optimize material choices based on customer requirements and material availability. Provide guidance regarding most cost-effective designs.
  • Create design using CAD and Artios.
  • Maintaining project files and CAD files. Operating and maintaining the sample cutting table.
  • Manage multiple projects at one time while meeting deadlines for each.
  • Convert sketches and ideas into 2D/3D display models with cutting tables and knife tools.
  • Liaison between customer and production to ensure project is being executed to customer's expectations.

About You:
You're a fit for the role of Packaging Designer if your background includes:
  • A complete understanding of packaging techniques/methods and structural packaging design.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 + years of job-related experience.
  • Experience operating a sample cutting table.
  • Proficiency with Artios CAD, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required. Familiarity with other Esko software like Cape Pack and WebCenter is a plus. Being well versed with Adobe applications and Salesforce is desired but not required.
  • Team Player with ability to multi-task with deadlines while still meeting standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
  • Trouble shooting mind set.
  • Attention to detail and excellent close vision.
