Job Purpose:


Honda Development & Manufacturing of America (HDMA) Regional Packaging Operations is responsible for the development and management of returnable packaging for all North America Facilities. This position leads medium complexity work scope for New Model packaging development. Facilitates and works with a large number of different stakeholders to gain feedback and buy in to ensure packaging is developed and implemented successfully and on-time. Will require minor support from peers and mentors to develop and complete tasks consistently
In the Packaging Developer role, you are responsible for developing custom packaging to secure shipping of automotive parts between suppliers and Honda plants while taking into account a wide degree of supply chain characteristics, part quality, handling objectives and constraints. 
Responsible to evaluate, test and implement packaging designs, validate change points, determining effectiveness to minimize critical impact or risk. Packaging design outputs contribute to overall multimillion dollar packaging development budget targets.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Execute project management and strategies to develop new packaging based on conditional change points. Engineer a reduction complexity to meet cost reduction targets.    
  • Gain commitment from stakeholders on all guidelines and requirements for packaging.    
  • Use 3D software to make strategic decisions evaluating change points to build pack plans
  • Use the technical experience to sell ideas and secure buy-in for optimal pack design.    
  • Lead in communication for feedback from stakeholders on operating needs for packaging    
  • Change point design management and documentation    
  • Complete development forms and documentation     
  • Task Leader for various activities that support overall project and operational requirements    
  • Manage stakeholders to secure buy in on packaging development plan 
  • Troubleshot and correct design related packaging issues that impact mass production    


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s in engineering Field or 6 years relevant ENG exp for Non-Engineering Degree
  • 0-6 years relevant ENG experience
  • Previous experience working in the automotive and/or manufacturing industry  


Working Conditions:


Office environment, periods of local and regional travel, average 5 hours overtime a week.
