Job description

What You’ll Be Part Of

Join a team that values safety, quality, and reliability in supporting the production of high-performance materials. As a Packaging Associate, you will play an important role in ensuring products are packaged safely, accurately, and efficiently while supporting both the Production and Shipping & Receiving teams.

General Scope of Responsibilities

The Packaging Associate is responsible for supplying all necessary packaging materials (including spools) to production lines, performing accurate weighing and labeling of finished goods, and delivering them to the appropriate warehouse locations. This cross-functional role works closely with Production and Shipping & Receiving as one unified team to support the safe, efficient, and on-time production, packaging, storage, and shipment of finished goods.

This position is available on the following shift:

Shift 1A:
• Sunday through Tuesday, 7:00am to 7:00pm
• Wednesdays, 7:00am to 1:00pm

Starting pay: $24.25 per hour

Your Key Responsibilities

• Become forklift certified and maintain compliance for safe handling and transport of finished goods.
• Oversee the boxing of finished goods, including accurate data entry and setting up production lines with required packaging.
• Perform visual inspections of packaged products to verify labeling accuracy and overall quality.
• Set up and fill racks for doff changes.
• Perform spool taping as required to support production and ensure proper preparation of materials.
• Follow all AstenJohnson boxing procedures and protocols.
• Remove trash and used spool boxes from the shop floor as needed.
• Store incoming boxing materials, rotate stock, and ensure packaging supplies are readily available.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following the 5S system.
• Support inventory counts and audits as necessary.
• Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate closely with both Production and Shipping & Receiving departments. Assist with loading and unloading inbound and outbound trucks, moving finished goods and internal loads, and supporting the production floor as needed.
• Perform Cross-functional duties as assigned by supervisors. Responsibilities are not limited to traditional boxing duties and may include tasks necessary to support Production, Shipping & Receiving, and overall plant operations.

• Forklift certification.
• Experience or certification in Lean Sigma concepts preferred.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 55 pounds daily.
• Ability to stand and walk for the majority of each 10-plus-hour shift.
• Exposure to noise, warm temperatures, and industrial equipment while wearing required safety equipment.
