Description
The University of Montana invites applications for an Assistant Athletic Director of Ticket Sales and Revenue Generation for UM Athletics. The Assistant Athletic Director oversees all aspects of operation for the GrizTix ticket office. Responsibilities will cover six core areas: Ticket Office Leadership and Operations, Paciolan Platform Administration, Concert and Live Entertainment Ticketing, Revenue Generation and Strategy, Technology and Systems Management, Campus Partnerships and External Services.
Athletic Department employees and those University employees outside the Athletic Department with NCAA rules compliance responsibilities are subject at all times to NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. Failure to conduct oneself as such will result in disciplinary or corrective action up to and including immediate discharge.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage ticket sales and game-day/event-day ticketing operations for all seven ticketed athletic sports, ensuring accurate setup, fulfillment, and patron service; maintaining inventory controls for approximately 300,000 tickets annually
  • Oversee financial reconciliation and customer support processes, including cash handling, credit card settlements, escalated patron issues, refunds, and maintaining current digital ticketing communications
  • Serve as the department's lead Paciolan administrator and technical expert, managing all ticketing system operations, event builds, venue configurations, staff training, platform support, and PCI compliance
  • Oversee ticketing analytics and reporting by leveraging Salesforce, eQuery, and related tools to monitor sales trends, support event settlements, and produce accurate financial and attendance reports
  • Lead ticketing operations for concerts, performing arts, comedy, and special events across campus venues by coordinating logistics with promoters and touring productions, managing on-sale timelines, allocations, and day-of-show operations
  • Ensure accurate event execution and financial compliance through contract fulfillment, timely settlements, venue diagramming and ADA-compliant configurations, and consistent ticketing standards across all venues
  • Develop and execute strategic ticket sales, pricing, and revenue plans, including budgeting, premium seating management, inventory strategy, and long-range departmental planning
  • Drive fan engagement and attendance growth through targeted CRM and marketing campaigns, data-driven sales strategies, and collaboration with Athletics marketing and corporate partnership teams
  • Manage all ticketing technology systems and infrastructure, including hardware, software, point-of-sale devices, remote access, wireless equipment, website management, and digital/mobile ticketing platforms
  • Support operational efficiency through data analysis, venue diagramming and configuration tools, and by identifying and implementing emerging ticketing technologies and industry best practices
  • Manage ticketing service partnerships for university organizations by serving as the primary contact, negotiating contracts and fees, fulfilling contractual obligations, and coordinating with campus partners to ensure smooth event operations
  • Collaborate with Athletics Marketing, the Grizzly Scholarship Association (GSA), Stadium Suites, and touring productions to maximize revenue, support fan engagement initiatives, and coordinate live entertainment production needs

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in ticketing, with at least three (3) years in a management role at an arena, stadium, or comparable venue
  • Hands-on proficiency with Paciolan or a comparable enterprise ticketing platform, including event building, scaling, reporting, and settlements
  • Demonstrated experience managing ticketing for both athletic events and concerts or live entertainment, including direct work with promoters and touring production teams
  • Experience with cash handling, daily accounting, financial reconciliation, and event settlement production
  • Proven supervisory experience: hiring, training, scheduling, and developing a diverse staff
  • Strong customer service orientation, including effective handling of escalated patron situations
  • Knowledge of ADA regulations as they apply to ticket sales and venue access
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) and comfort learning new software quickly
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including frequent evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to be on-call and respond to immediate or emergency situations as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a NCAA Division I institution with familiarity of athletics and campus entertainment operations
  • Proficiency with Paciolan's full platform suite: PacPlatform, tRes, Salesforce CRM, PAC Mail / Eloqua, eQuery, and AM Monitor
  • Experience with concert promoter workflows, including deal memo compliance, promoter allocations, and final event settlement
  • Experience with event diagramming software (CAD, Visio, Social Tables, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with University of Montana Banner accounting system or comparable university financial platform
  • Knowledge of NCAA, Big Sky Conference, and University of Montana ticketing rules and regulations
  • Experience with dynamic pricing, digital/mobile ticketing, and data-driven sales strategy
  • Working knowledge of live event production elements - sound, lighting, staging, rigging - as they relate to ticketing logistics
  • Experience with Photoshop, digital signage, and web-based ticketing entry applications
  • Familiarity with Fevo or comparable group sales and social ticketing platform

Additional Information
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
