Job description

Summary:
We are currently seeking a full-time, Pre-Press Technician to join our fast-growing, digitally printed labels and packaging facility in Hamilton, OH. The position will report directly to the Pre-Press Department Manager.
The Pre-Press Technician will be responsible for pre-flighting customer-supplied artwork, preparing and proofing 1-up artwork for digital print, troubleshooting common file and color related issues, and ensuring color matches customer standards.
Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, forward-thinking, willing to challenge the status quo, and demonstrate a positive attitude.
Pay and Benefits
Pay: $20.50-$27.00/hour

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform pre-flight checks to ensure files meet print specifications
  • Review and prepare files for digital printing in line with department procedures and expectations including (but not limited to) proofing, white layer creation, text editing, and color corrections.
  • Has overall responsibility for the quality and accuracy of finalized art files submitted to production.
  • Train clients and designers on how to supply artwork correctly for printing.
  • Perform color corrections on files and on the digital press to match customer supplied targets.
  • Create custom colors within color management system for specific project needs.
  • Work closely with quality and digital press operators on matters involving artwork and color-related issues.
  • Advise clients on color selection and how it will translate in the digital print process.
  • Work closely with the CSR and other departments to facilitate orders through the workflow.
  • Collaborate with front office and production to improve daily process efficiencies.
  • Participate in department meetings, training, and continuous improvement events.
  • Safely and efficiently perform all essential job functions in accordance with company policies and operating procedures.

This job operates in an open office environment shared by employees in other departments. Must be able to maintain focus and stay productive with background noise.

Requirements
Skills & Competencies:
  • Familiarity with Automation Engine or Hybrid, DFE and HP Indigo Digital Presses
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Color Management Software and Tools, and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work under pressure, and adopt new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in Pre-Press in the printing industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required

Work Authorization
Must be eligible to work in the United States without restriction.
