BALTIMORE SLEEP AND WELLNESS CENTER IS LOCATED IN BALTIMORE COUNTY AND  PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE PRIMARY CARE TO PATIENTS, AS WELL AS, DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION AND TREATMENTS  TO THOSE WITH SLEEP DISORDERS.  OUR DEDICATED TEAM OF PHYSICIAN, NURSE PRACTITIONER AND CLINICAL SLEEP AND HEALTH  EDUCATORS ARE UNIQUELY COMMITED TO PROVIDE  COMPATIONATE, HIGH QUALITY AND INTEGRATED CARE. WE ARE ALSO AN AFFILITATED TEACHING CENTER FOR JOHNS HOPKINS SCHOOL OF NURSING DNP PROGRAM, SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF NURSING DNP PROGRAM, LUMINUS HEALTH INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENCY PROGRAM,AND  CCBC CAAHEP FOR PSGT TRAINING PROGRAM.

** WE ARE SEEKING A NP/PA (ADVANCED PROVIDER PRACTITIONER) WHO WILL SUPPORT BALTIMORE SLEEP AND WELLNESS CENTER  MISSION AND THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR BY PROVIDING ACCESS FOR NEW AND ESTABLISHED SLEEP DISORDER PATIENTS AND TO OPTIMIZE OUR TEAM PERFORMANCE, AS WELL AS, OUR PATIENT OUTCOMES.  NP/PA WILL SEE PATIENTS INITIALLY WITH SUPERVISION AND ONCE COMPETENCY IS DEMONSTRATED WILL PRACTICE INDEPENDENTLY AS AN ASSOCIATE  WITH OUR MEDICAL DIRECTOR AND OUR TEAM. **

The duties include a comprehensive set of activities including: 1) evaluating and treating new and established patients for PE, preop, transitional care  and annual wellness visits etc, as well as, taking a sleep- related history and physical and placing sleep-related testing as needed. 2) triage of patients for clinic visits and sleep testing, 3) patient and family education regarding the nature of their sleep- related medical problems, prognoses, and options for continued care concerning care continuity, 4) providing clinical support for prescription authorizations and patient follow-up for the practice, 5) developing materials for patient education, 6) act as liaison between referring physicians and Baltimore Sleep & Wellness Center.

Specified Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Conduct health interviews and physical exams, assign a sleep disorder – related diagnosis (e.g. sleep disordered breathing( OSA) , restless legs syndrome, parasomnia’s, circadian rhythm disorders, insomnias, and hypersomnia’s)

·         Order diagnostic testing (e.g., home sleep studies, overnight sleep studies, day studies such as MSLT/MWT. Positive airway pressure titration studies, EKGs, PFTs, pulmonary stress test, nocturnal pulse oximetry and lab values) provides consultations, counseling and teaching to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals; initiates referrals to other providers for concurrent and continuing care, manages clinical emergencies should they arise, mobilizes resources, and makes appropriate short- and long-term referrals.

·         Develops appropriate treatment plans for the management of patients with sleep disorders including patient education and the judicious prescription of non-controlled and controlled drugs as appropriate for insomnia and narcolepsy.  Assist with patient triage from available ECW work queues for sleep lab or clinic evaluations.

·         Update and create new patient education materials to be used at Baltimore Sleep & Wellness Center.

You will Work closely with OUR TEAM including administrative personnel, sleep technologists and respiratory therapists to coordinate other aspects of patient care such as scheduling of clinic appointments, scheduling of necessary testing, trouble- shooting CPAP problems and answering patient questions.  Provide clinical support as needed for prescriptions, authorizations, response to patient phone calls, and other documents the need signing/attention by providers in the practice.

Develop and Improve sleep center protocols under the supervision of the Medical Director, clinical and managerial operations that include but are not limited to: improving clinic flow, marketing of the sleep center, developing and improving upon clinical services

Preferred Qualifications:

Three years of related clinical Nursing or PA experience preferred, we do provide additional  training for select  candidates.

DEA and Maryland CDS license

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Experience in sleep medicine or working in specialty practices such as pulmonary medicine, cardiology, neurology, psychiatry, ENT is preferred but not required.

Analytical ability necessary to evaluate health status of patient and to implement proper care plan

Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with other services

Ability to work well as a member of a health care team with a high degree of self-motivation

General computer knowledge and ability to use computerized medical information systems

Starting Salary Range: Competitive: Commensurate with experience with benefits package.
