Job Description

  • The technician must be knowledgeable about common sleep disorders and treatment options such a PAP therapy for OSA.
  • Willing to learn new procedures utilized by the facility that enhances the sleep testing process.
  • Perform day/overnight polysomnograms, MSLT, CPAP, and oxygen titration in accordance with company protocol.
  • Data tabulation and interpretation: Score sleep/wake and clinical events in accordance with AASM scoring guidelines.
  • Independently troubleshoot minor problems or adjustments throughout the study to ensure an accurate and readable recording.
  • Collect and/or review pertinent medical history and medications to perform the appropriate study requested by a clinician.
  • Assist with assigned projects to improve department processes, testing, and quality.
  • Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as professional standards.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.

Requirements

  • Must be Registered in Polysomnographic Technology with the BRPT or equivalent.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be proficient in the use and theory of all equipment related to sleep testing.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills.

Experience

At least 18 months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A sleep medicine practice is seeking a Registered Sleep Technician who can work full time or PRN in our Austin office. Under the direct supervision of the medical director and the general supervision of the COO, the sleep technician will perform day and overnight polysomnograms, MSLT testing, diagnostic, and therapeutic services as well as patient care and education.
