IT Support Engineer I/II (On-Site)

Location: Irvine, CA (100% On-Site — this is not a remote or hybrid role) Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: IT Manager / IT Director Travel Required: Yes — local travel to satellite offices and occasional out-of-state travel

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer (Level 1/Level 2) to join our team at our Irvine, CA facility. This is a hands-on, in-person role supporting end users, infrastructure, and business systems across the organization. The ideal candidate is a versatile IT generalist with a strong technical foundation in Microsoft Office 365, Azure cloud administration, networking, and enterprise ticketing systems, who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires someone who can travel locally between company offices as needed and periodically travel to other states to support remote locations, new office setups, or on-site projects.

Key Responsibilities

Level 1 Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all IT-related issues via phone, email, chat, and ticketing system
  • Log, triage, and prioritize incoming support tickets in Jira Service Management or Freshservice
  • Provide desktop, laptop, mobile device, and peripheral (printer/scanner/monitor) troubleshooting and support
  • Perform new hire onboarding: account creation, hardware provisioning, software installation, and workstation setup
  • Perform employee offboarding: account deactivation, equipment retrieval, and data preservation per company policy
  • Reset passwords, unlock accounts, and manage basic user permissions in Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID)
  • Provide basic support for VPN connectivity, Wi-Fi access, and remote access tools
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory records for hardware and software licenses
  • Escalate complex issues to Level 2/3 support or vendors as appropriate, with clear documentation

Level 2 Support

  • Administer and support Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune)
  • Manage user accounts, licensing, groups, and security policies in Microsoft Azure / Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)
  • Configure and troubleshoot networking components: switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP
  • Support and maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure across multiple office locations
  • Administer endpoint security tools (antivirus/EDR), patch management, and software deployment
  • Support Mobile Device Management (MDM/Intune) for company-owned and BYOD devices
  • Assist with server maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Configure and support VoIP phone systems and conferencing/AV equipment in conference rooms
  • Support printer/copier fleet management and vendor coordination
  • Assist with IT projects such as office relocations, new site setups, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Maintain IT documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
  • Ensure compliance with internal security policies and data protection standards
  • Travel to satellite offices and other states as needed for installs, migrations, audits, or emergency support

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on IT support experience (Level 1 and Level 2)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune)
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Azure Active Directory (Entra ID)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, firewalls, switches, routers, Wi-Fi
  • Hands-on experience with Jira Service Management or Freshservice (or similar ITSM/ticketing platforms)
  • Experience with Active Directory user/group management and Group Policy
  • Experience with Windows OS (10/11) and general troubleshooting; macOS support experience a plus
  • Experience with endpoint management and MDM tools (Intune, Jamf, or similar)
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Experience supporting VoIP phone systems, video conferencing, and AV equipment
  • Basic scripting/automation knowledge (PowerShell) is a plus
  • Experience with printer/copier setup, network shares, and peripheral support
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices: antivirus/EDR, patching, phishing awareness, data protection
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in server/telecom closets
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required for local and inter-office travel)
  • Must be able to travel locally on short notice and travel out-of-state as business needs require (occasional overnight travel)

Work Environment & Conditions

  • This position is 100% on-site at our Irvine, CA facility — no remote or hybrid work option

  • Standard business hours with occasional after-hours or weekend availability for maintenance windows, migrations, or emergency support
  • On-call rotation may be required
