Position Summary:

This positionย is responsible forย project management functions related to the revitalizations,ย technical projects, and supporting theย project managers and projects as needs arise. Typical assignments would include major ship projects such as revitalizations, and technical projectsย pertaining toย engines, AWP, AEPย (scrubber technology).ย Leader in project management of a diverse project portfolio with successful results. Management of projects varying scope from waterparks, machinery systems, guest facing venues, and more. Responsible forย on timeย delivery, technical compliance, multi departmental alignment, and delivery within budget. Provenย track recordย of injecting a "can-do" mindset into all projects to improve the shipbuilding product. Responsible for presenting and collaborating at the highest levels within the organization leading to corporate trust in projects undertaken.ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactivelyย directsandย drives ship technicalย projectsย so they areย accomplishedย within the prescribedย time frame, budget, and meet all safety and brand guidelines. Liaises operating department representatives intimately involved in the Revitalization of a ship: Hotel, Culinary, Marine, Design, Finance, Procurement, HR, IT,ย ShoreEx, Revenue, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Environment andย ship yards.ย ย 
  • Ensure operational requirements and ship configurations are compatible with SQM and way of working.ย 
  • Manages vendors, to whom technical work isย outsourced to, ensuring they meet our time, budget,ย safetyย and brand guidelines.ย ย 
  • Create strongย linkย to marine operations andย ship'sย chief engineers to ensure final plans andย designs willย meet all operational needs.ย Identify and communicate restrictions and compromises that may be required due to budget or space limitations.ย ย 
  • Develop cost reduction programs for projects.ย 
  • Direct and coordinate atย a high level, all general procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between new building office(s) and classification and regulatory societies.ย 
  • Generate the project budget, including forecasting and planning, alongside the Project Manager(s).ย 
  • Review and comment, as appropriate on all project design proposals, feasibility studies, and construction plans, as needed.ย 
  • Audit existing plans and prepare detailedย reportย as needed.ย 
  • As directed, visit vessels for familiarization projects and work being handled.ย 
  • Stay current with technical research and projectsย development, andย evaluateย new technologyย for use across the fleet. Run test programs on new equipment in conjunction with ship personnel as directed.ย 
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, support planning,ย installationย and follow up on all vessels.ย 
  • Assistย current project managers where needed. Act as aย back-upย for projects that may fall into trouble.ย ย 
  • Stay current on SQM policy andย be responsible forย theย timelyย correction of audit findings.ย 
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager,ย assistย in theย selectionย and installation of machinery, piping, electrical and all related class construction requirements and safety appliances to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company safety and environmental policies.ย 
  • Assistย in supervision of projects onboard.ย 
  • Work on assigned special projects.ย 
  • Responsibleย for execution ofย high riskย and technical complexity projectsย 
  • Management of 5 internal project manager resourcesย 
  • Workforce responsibility of over 300+ workers across all tradesย 
  • Responsible for health, safety, and occupation well-being of all workers during drydockingย windowย 
  • Required for long duration field work with extensive workingย hoursย 
  • Responsible for leadership level communication and collaboration to achieve the desired output of theย projectย 
  • Develop and drive project plan to ensure on time completion of theย projectย 
  • Act as liaison between multi-departmental organization to ensure a mutually aligned product atย completionย 
  • Develop and review contracts to ensure a complete product atย completionย 
  • Develop and review technical design to ensure technical compliance and safety ofย constructionย 
  • Develop and integrate execution strategy between all contractors for a seamlessย installationย 
  • Manage project budget and implement cost savings initiatives as needed to ensure on budget or under budgetย executionย 
  • Present and report to leadership on the health and status of venuesย 
  • Venues under supervision:ย Perfect Storm andย SuperCellย waterslides,ย Shipwideย Pool Deck refurbishment,ย Splashawayย bay, Ultimate Abyss,ย Limeย and Coconut, El Loco Fresh, Mason Jar, Teens Area, Escape Room, Mini Golf, Snow Coneย

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineeringย or related field experienceย required.ย ย 
  • 12+ย years experienceย 
  • 5-7 years of Maritime experience preferred.ย 
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.ย 
  • Software:ย Proficiencyย in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointย required.ย ย 
  • Knowledge ofย AutoCadย and Microsoft Project is preferred.ย 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.ย 
  • Ability to work in aย fast pacedย environment with multiple projects and priorities.ย ย 
  • Ability to add,ย subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, commonย fractionsย and decimals.ย 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, discounts,ย interestย and commissions.ย ย 
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance, as well as foreign exchange rates.ย

  • Personal protective equipment needed for shipyard visits.
  • 30% travel is required.
