IMG are hiring an APC Director on a freelance basis to support all aspects of the IMG studio & digital production for MLS on Apple TV, providing technical proficiency and live show support throughout an exciting match day schedule of content creation.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The APC Director will play a vital role in supporting the studio & digital programming for MLS Productions. The ideal candidate will assist in the technical execution of studio shows, ensuring the highest quality standards are met. This individual should have experience in technical director roles, familiarity with the Ross Overdrive production control system, and be comfortable directing a crew of EVS, graphics and robotics operators in a hybrid production of automation and live personnel.
  • Live Show Production:
    • Execute precise coding and technical operations for MLS on Apple TV and other platforms utilizing the Ross Overdrive Automated Production Control environment and occasional manual processes.
    • Provide authoritative direction to talent and other production crew members, ensuring seamless coordination and execution of broadcasts.
    • Distribute necessary content across several distinct feeds.
    • Maintain adaptability and readiness to undertake additional critical duties as required or assigned, contributing to the overall success of the broadcasting operation.
  • Organization & Development:
    • Prepare and execute coded rundowns in collaboration with Coordinating Director and Producer.
    • Develop understanding of project's element library and awareness of best practices for each.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with IMG team to ensure consistency across shows - from camera mapping to graphics workflows to talent positioning.
    • Work closely with producers to review accuracy, feasibility, and quality of rundowns and translate them into cohesive broadcasts.

Knowledge & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a live studio production environment, with a focus on TD/Directing experience utilizing Ross Overdrive Production Automation
  • Experience leading a control room of graphics operators, EVS/playback operators, and camera operators.

Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with virtual studios preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • The ability to work and troubleshoot effectively in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks independently.

Working conditions
  • This is a freelance role.
  • This role will be based can be based in the MLS Studios in Stamford, CT
  • Unsocial hours may be required, as dictated by the demands of the business schedule
  • Adapting to use of new systems and technology where appropriate
