The Camp Program Coordinator has a vital role in planning and overseeing quality at ESP programs and events related to camp for all ESP families. ESP is seeking an individual who is passionate about creating transformative experiences and has a great eye for safety and recruitment. It is important for this role to be filled by someone who has a team-mindset and the ability to multitask. This position is specifically for the Watkinsville location of ESP with ongoing collaboration and support for both locations.

About ESP:

Founded in 1986 in Watkinsville, Georgia, ESP exists to create transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families and change communities for the better. ESP now operates five locations across the state of Georgia and North Carolina to provide year-round programming, summer camp, and family support to nearly 1,000 families. Top Five Responsibilities

  1. Leadership, Management and Accountability of Camp Assistants, Program Interns, and Summer Staff
  2. Develop and implement systems for Athens Summer Camp.
  3. Plan and implement ESP Summer Camp in collaboration with the Programs team.
  4. Manage community partnerships that benefit Athens summer camp
  5. Manage professional development of interns, assistants, and summer staff

Detailed Functions, Responsibilities and Skills

  • Identify, plan, and execute ESP Athens Summer Camp Programs. 
  • Oversee the implementation of all program events for Summer Camp.
  • Recruit, Train, and Manage all Summer Camp Interns..
  • Oversee creation of the Summer Camp calendar, ensuring a diverse portfolio of transformative experiences
  • Supervise staff and oversee daily operations of the camp
  • Regularly audit all Athens Summer Camp programs and ensure the ESP Way and Standard is being met
  • Provide Summer Camp programmatic support and be a line of communication for camp concerns
  • Identify target audiences to invite into the mission of ESP for year-round programming
  • Manage and coach assistants and interns during camp programs to ensure participants are properly cared for
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with interns, community partners, and volunteers  in our community 
  • Be a strong advocate for keeping the ESP Athens Building and Assets in great condition, looking for ways to continually improve 
  • Maintain accountability to a healthy team culture across program interns and volunteers.
  • Ensure adherence to camp guidelines, policies, and procedures are being followed appropriately with a focus on safety always.
  • Prepare and manage camp budget, ordering supplies when necessary 
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of camp or site property
  • Resolve conflicts and provide support to campers and staff
  • Maintain records and prepare reports as needed

Job Expectations

  • Typical Fall and Spring hours are 9 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Additionally, some programs are scheduled monthly on evenings and weekends and often require attendance as determined by leadership.
  • Summer camp hours are 7 am - 4:30 pm
  • While not frequent, emergency family support situations may require after-hours communication with families

Experience / Preferred Requirements

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and comfortable with technology and multiple management platforms
  • Preferred history of planning, implementing and executing programs/events/projects
  • A high quotient for hospitality and customer service
  • Experience working with people with disabilities preferred
  • Camp experience required; leadership role preferred

Job Details:

  • Compensation: $50,000
  • FLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried, Full-Time
