Job description

Are you ready to take your expertise as a cardiovascular technologist to new heights. Join our team as a Cath Lab Tech (Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) and play a vital role on a team that values your expertise while working in a hospital setting in Downers Grove, IL. Assist physicians and Cath Lab personnel in conducting diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. Operate advanced imaging and monitoring equipment to capture crucial data and support patient care.


What You‘ll Need:

  • ARRT certified Radiologic Technologist or equivalent credential for technologists.
  • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) preferred for both RN and Tech roles.
  • Minimum 3 years of Cath Lab experience for Tech or RN in a hospital Cath Lab setting (client requirement).
  • RN applicants: 3 years nursing experience in Cath Lab required (client requirement).
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • Tech: ARRT or RTR, IEMA required; RCIS preferred.
  • EPIC electronic medical record experience preferred and strongly valued.
  • Experience with advanced cardiac devices and procedures: IABP, Impella, TAVR, structural heart procedures, pacemaker/ICD placements, right heart caths, thrombectomy, and EP lab procedures preferred.
  • Comfort with EKG/cardiac rhythm interpretation, arterial and central line management, conscious sedation, and pacing modalities expected for RN candidates.
  • State licensing as required.


Assignment Details

  • Facility type: Hospital.

  • Assignment duration: 13 week travel assignment.

  • Usual team configuration: 1 RN + 2 Techs per room or 2 RN + 1 Tech per room; hybrid OR team includes OR, Cath, and IR personnel.
  • Patient ratio: 1:1 for monitored cases.
  • Onsite physician support available 24/7.

Facility Details and Unit Overview

  • Hospital size: approximately 285 beds.
  • Service designations: Level 1 trauma center, Level III NICU, Magnet recognition, and Primary Stroke Center.
  • Cath Lab configuration: 3 labs and 1 hybrid OR.
  • Common procedures: diagnostic and interventional caths, structural interventions (ASD closure, valve studies), device placements (Impella, IABP), TAVR, AAA repair, TCAR, EP procedures including ablations and device work.
  • Support staff: charge RN/tech, lab coordinator, unit secretarial support, CNAs and transporters as staffing permits.
  • COVID vaccine requirement for employment at this facility.
