Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Spyder.com is the direct-to-consumer engine for Outdoor Collective’s Spyder and Venom brands, and we’re looking for the leader to own it. As Director of eCommerce, you are the captain of the ship — the single point of accountability for the site, its P&L, and its growth. You set the strategy, own the numbers, and drive profitable sales, orchestrating marketing, merchandising, creative, and operations to move the business forward.

This is a hands-on, revenue-generating role for an operator who lives to win and knows that growth only counts when it comes with margin. You’ll sell across a wide range — from $30 accessories to $1,000+ premium outerwear — challenge the playbook, and reinvent how we sell online.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Own the P&L & Drive Profitable Growth

• Own ecommerce revenue and gross margin, along with the full scorecard: conversion, AOV, CAC, and ROAS.

• Build and execute the annual sales strategy and forecast in partnership with Finance and Planning.

• Protect margin — drive full-price sell-through and manage markdown and discount cadence with discipline.

• Set pricing, bundling, and merchandising strategy across the assortment to grow AOV and margin.

• Identify and capture new revenue streams (marketplaces, wholesale-to-DTC crossover, subscription).

Marketing, Acquisition & Retention

• Lead paid and organic strategy with hands-on command of Meta and Google (Search, Shopping, Performance Max, YouTube), plus display and SEO.

• Own email and SMS lifecycle marketing to drive engagement, retention, and revenue.

• Own customer acquisition and retention end-to-end, balancing efficient new-customer growth against LTV and loyalty.

• Define and protect a distinct brand voice for Spyder and Venom across every customer touchpoint.

Affiliate & Partnership Marketing (Impact & Trybe)

• Run affiliate and partnerships as a direct sales channel — personally prospect, pitch, negotiate, and close new partners.

• Manage the program end-to-end on Impact and Trybe: tracking, commission structures, payouts, and compliance.

• Grow and own relationships with top-performing affiliates, influencers, and content partners.

• Continually optimize deal terms for margin-positive growth, not just volume.

Site Experience, Team & Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner with UX, product, and engineering to optimize the site for conversion, mobile, and checkout; lead the A/B testing and CRO roadmap.

• Build, mentor, and lead the ecommerce, digital marketing, and affiliate team, along with agency and vendor partners.

• Collaborate across merchandising, creative, supply chain, customer service, and finance; report to executive leadership on performance and strategy.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• 8–12+ years in ecommerce, digital marketing, or online sales leadership, including 3–5+ years at a senior/VP level.

• Proven track record driving significant, profitable revenue growth for a DTC ecommerce business — ideally in apparel, fashion, or outdoor.

• Demonstrated ability to grow sales while protecting gross margin through pricing, promotion, and discount discipline.

• Hands-on affiliate/partnership sales leadership, with direct experience managing programs on both Impact (Impact.com) and Trybe.

• Deep, hands-on expertise in paid marketing on Meta and Google, plus email/SMS platforms (Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, or similar).

• Strong command of Shopify-based platforms and analytics tools; a genuinely data-driven decision maker.

• Track record building and leading high-performing teams across in-house and agency partners.

• A true sales-and-marketing hybrid — equally comfortable closing a deal, negotiating a partnership, and building a full-funnel strategy.

• A builder who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture: challenges convention, moves fast, and is relentless about winning.

Preferred

• Experience with fashion, apparel, outdoor, footwear, or lifestyle brands.

• Familiarity with influencer marketing platforms and creator commerce.

• Experience with international ecommerce expansion and localization.

• MBA or equivalent advanced degree (a plus, not required).

HOW WE'LL MEASURE SUCCESS

• Ecommerce revenue growth and gross margin performance.

• Full-price sell-through rate and markdown/discount efficiency.

Affiliate/partnership revenue and margin contribution (Impact & Trybe combined).

• New affiliate/partner acquisition and portfolio growth.

• Site conversion rate and AOV improvement.

• CAC efficiency, customer retention, repeat purchase rate, and LTV.

• Team growth, retention, and performance.
