What is an OSF On Call job?

An OSF On Call job is a flexible, as-needed position within OSF HealthCare that provides support in various roles across the organization. On-call employees fill in during staff shortages, emergencies, or high-demand periods. They may work in patient care, administrative support, or other essential areas, depending on their skills and qualifications. This role offers flexibility but does not guarantee a set number of hours per week.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Osf On Call position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an OSF On Call team member, you need a solid background in healthcare—such as nursing or allied health—along with strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic medical records (EMRs), and specialized triage protocols is often required. Excellent communication, active listening, and empathy help build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with colleagues. These skills ensure timely, accurate patient guidance and seamless coordination of care in a remote or virtual setting.

What is the typical work environment and schedule like for an OSF On Call position?

The OSF On Call role is primarily remote, with team members providing virtual care and triage services to patients via phone or online platforms. Schedules often include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure patients receive support at all hours, so flexibility with shift work is important. Team members typically collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive prompt and effective care or referrals. This position offers a dynamic environment where strong communication and adaptability are valued, and it can serve as a stepping stone to other roles in telehealth and healthcare administration.
